Figured it would happen sooner or later...
Someone left a few nice key marks on my passenger side rear door and quarter panel. Unfortunately I have no idea who but it was in the last week or so. Thankfully they aren't very long (2-3 inches) but I can see the metal on each one. Made a quick call to the body shop and they ballparked about 250 bucks for each panel to have it fixed right (sand+respray etc).
Its roughly the same cost as my deductible so not really worth getting insurance involed for vandalism. Anyone have other suggestions on ways to fix? With all the salt they put down around here, I'm thinking I should get it fixed as soon as I can. Shit happens. Some people are just ignorant. |

The funny thing is how we can't do anything about it, about dings, etc. There is this guy in the neighborhood who setup cams and caught a neighbor kid keying his work van. Guess what? Nothing he can do about it. Kid's a minor. And his parents told the neighbor, you park in front of our house, you'll get keyed again. RIDICULOUS. A**holes with the 3-car garages can't stand anyone parking near their homes. Well guess what? Some families have 3-5 cars and a work vehicle on top of that, where are they supposed to park LOL (my household has 3, so what?)

post some pictures
you can touch up the scratches, sand them down and polish it afterwards. the paint was fading on my X5, the body shop wanted to repaint it, but I sanded the oxidation and fading, and used the 3M rubbing compound and its like new. It has been over a month and still holds up well. |

I know what you're saying, but it's like we do that, and we're under arrest and have assets that can be taken away. They hide behind a child. I thought they were renters but my retired neighbors said no they own that house. The f'in neighbor who setup the cams works in security, and they are still willing to key his van knowing there are cams. The video was turned over to the police and there's nothing they can do. Amazing. Once my wife parked in front of their house and they put a note to "park your car in your own driveway" and then it said they're just being neighborly. made me think of that Little Red Rooster song....when you're away I'm gonna F*** with your henhouse, I'm just being neighborly....
