Interesting, its an exchange unit most likely repaired. The module itself is used on very many different models of cars and seems to cause the same fault on all of them so its quite possible theyve found a cheap source of the repair kit to offer this service at that price.
I'd like to believe it and if you are happy to bleed all of your brakes and clutch then it seems like a nice DIY job.

yeah it is repaired, which i think is probably for the best as that way the weak link is fixed -

they claim they do work for main dealers as well

yeah looks easy enough just wondering if anyone else has done it/anything to look out for when doing it.

I used a company recommended to me called ecu testing (.com) but these were the other guys who were recommended too.

They replace the faulty bits with updated and better bits that are used in more recent abs/dsc units. I got my mech to take my bit out and 2 days later I had it back and in. I think this company will do the same job and quite a few folks on other forums have good experiences with them.

If mine was to fail I planned to buy the BMW repair kit and have a go but seeing this has changed my mind.

I don't think DIY fitting the BMW repair kit is advisable.

BBA Reman have been in the game for years and have a great reputation in the trade. For £140 it's very reasonable.

Hey guys I was just goggling for hydro unit failure posts and noticed this one.
I have a e90 330i 2007 and it looks like I have the same issue, there's 3 lights that pop up in my dash - the abs light, traction control light, and red handbrake light.

My dealer says that my hydro control unit has failed and want 2k to fit a new one.

Hey Nigelo could you tell me which mechanic you use as I'm from N.Ireland too.

Cheers
Al
