Got a new computer!

Just picked up a 15 inch Macbook Pro. What a cool machine. It's amazing the differences in tech from my original 17 inch powerbook... Plus, 500 GB and the i7 chip.

Sorry for the crappy phone pics. I don't feel like dicking around with my camera. This thing is slick. The mouse pad has swipe functions for browsing, pinch and rotate and two finger scroll. And frankly it's faster than my iMac...nice! Plus, I can surf from my couch, etc.

Bootccamp it and run Windows 7 64-bit on the other side. W7 runs like a top on those.

They should have kept calling their computers iBook, Powerbook, and Powermac. They sound better then MB, MBP, and Mac Pro IMHO.

I miss my old 12" Powerbook G4. My first computer.

I still have my G4 17 Powerbook, but I cant see using it for much anymore. I agree with the names though. Apparently, its easy to get confused.

With that i7 processor you can run the Boot Camp wizard and split the hard drive, then load Windows 7 on the other half of the drive. Gives you the choice of both OSs. And Windows 7 runs great on those. I've done it to a dozen MacBooks and iMacs.

That is, of course, if you have any use at all for Windows. Some folks don't.

The only use I can think of is when I log in to work from home. I use logmein. Is there any advantage to using a windows OS for that?

I looked hard at that size for the ease of portability, but I really wanted the bigger hard drive. I really like the macbook air, but apparently size matters

If your work PC is Windows, you can use Remote Desktop and avoid the third party web site. But that alone is not worth the expense of going to Windows 7, unless you have access to the OS CD at little or no cost.

I don't. I'd have to pay full boat as our IT department is rightfully tight with their licensing. Thanks for the advice though.

I picked up Windows 7 on eBay for $50 to put on my MacBook Pro, that was 2 months ago and I still haven't installed it.

Enjoy your new Mac, you'll notice the difference coming from the PB.

Same here on the flip side. I have a MacBook Pro sitting in my office and have no use for it. Once you get hooked into an OS, it's hard to change.

One thing I've noticed about MacBook Pros is that they run hot. My Dell Latitude Z is cool as a cucumber all the time.
