Im originally from michigan. I have had many bimmers while I lived there and even brought one to cali with me. All ended up rusting: (lower doors and lower trunk lid mostly. Granted...mine usually had about 70k before I bought it. So your low miles are good. Just check it really well and have mechanic do a good once over on those spots. Was it garaged?

Yes, it was garaged but it was driven in the snow (as it was supposed to)
Will a PPI determine if this is a good car to buy?

Modern cars don't tend to have rust issues, at least not for quite a while. Are you planning on keeping the car for a long time? I'm in Michigan but tend to lease for 36 months so don't have long term experience.

Usually I keep my cars 2-3 years. Also worry about re-sale value. People around here tend to think north/east cars are not the best option...
