It's stock, but you should be aware that on the N54 engine, the crankshaft and piston rods are forged. The pistons are cast, but they seem to be of very good quality.

That's the answer I was looking for!
Now Shiv can you help me with my shopping list - anything I can get started on buying that you know won't be part of your kit, but that I will need? Going from a bone stock N54.

The car in fact has 82k hard driving miles on it and its making great power still.

Let me know what you are trying to build and do with your car and I will be able to help you set it up.

Is the fuel system all stock, too? I'd imagine you'd at least need to upgrade injectors, if not fuel pump, fuel rail, regulation, etc.

Vishnu has only one of their two fuel system upgrades implemented on their car from everything I've read. They have yet to put the second phase of their fuel system into play.

Are you guys ever going to disassemble the head and see what it looks like currently? With that milage and being a test subject, it would probably bench mark worst case scenario.

The rod...the piece of metal connecting the piston to the crankshaft...aka the piston rod

I believe this is true only on some model years... some of the early models have had forged pistons I think? I DO know that not all N54's are the same regarding piston manufacturer and, as such, differ in their components being cast / forged...

Yep that's from a couple weeks back when running basically stock suspension. Same set up that was run at Edmunds testing but now on a prepped surface. On the grippy VHT surface, it would axle hop so painfully through 1st and 2nd gear that i couldnt even go WOT until 3rd gear. It was such an ugly run (didnt run NLS) that i didnt think it would go under a 11.5. But it did and I was politely asked to stop running the car by the officials. Might have had an 11.2 in it using NLS.

Since then, we've installed the JRZs, adj toe links, solid diff bushings and lowered the rear of the car nearly 2 inches. So it should behave very differently during the launch. Presumably for the better. Will know in a couple of weeks when we go to the track again.

I didn't post up the results until yesterday because they aren't indicative of what the car can do with a clean pass. But a 6mt record is a record so why not. On an earlier runs which I aborted at the end, 1/8 traps were at 101.5 and 102.5mph. Just need to put it all together which should hopefully be possible with this last round of chassis mods. It has all the ingredients of a 10.8-10.9 run as long as I can cut the usual 1.6x 60' times it used to run back when it had stock turbos (and 30k less miles on the car).
