What's the shortest amount of time you've owned a car?
New or used. For me it was a 2011 golf gti, fully loaded autobahn with dsg. Had it 7 months, put 11k miles on it from new. Loved the car but got tired of no rear doors (should have bought the 4 door) and the build quality was poor. (Water leaks, rattles, oil consumption really high, etc.) but fun to drive!
Sold It for my current 335 sedan - a different level! Plan to keep it till my warranty runs out in 2014, maybe want to get an X5M. ( compromise with the wife!) Before the gti had an S55 Amg for almost 2 years - loved it but maintenance and reliability were heavy factors. |

An 88 or 89 Jetta bought for 1600 bucks in 2001. Totaled three weeks later. Oh well, at least their insurance called the next day to tell me they were just accepting 100% fault... haha.

FX35 for 1 week. long story short, the dealership was shady as fuck.
But I don't really count that car as owned since it was so short. Otherwise it would be my Scion tC. 15 months.

bought 2012 accord lx sedan on december 2011 for my wife.
kia optima ex rolls by on january and she wants it. got that for her and she's a happy girl. so three month of new car ownership on a accord... by the way, i had a friend who worked at hyundai and got a employee discount. got the 27k car for around 22.5k (every option except the 2.0t engine on the optima) so the turnaround happened to be in my favor in terms of money. love that car, its a better car than a audi a4 for the money. looks spanking hot too, with the panoramic roof on a white car. |

5 months, 2004 B6 Audi S4. Loved it - most fun car to drive I've ever owned. The V8 coupled with AWD was amazing. Sold it for reliability issues and bought my current 335

Bought a used 2004 Cadillac SRX a few years back. The power steering belt broke which at first I thought just needed to be replaced. Turns out that belt also drove the AC, and the AC compressor grinded into hundreds of shards and the whole AC system needed to be replaced. Condenser, compressor, and all the lines. No dealership warranty remaining because it was used, and conveniently happened the 31st day of ownership, passing the 30 day grace period at the used car dealership. They pretty much told me to fuck off. Exact words were "What, do you think we put a bunch of ball bearing in the line just to sabotage the car?". Tried to work out a deal where I bought the parts, they would cover the labor, but they didn't budge. I had it all fixed and traded it in at the BMW dealership for a X3. Will probably never buy from a used car lot ever again.

I bought an 03 350Z in 2005 had it for 7 months. Extremely under powered, sold it and bought a 2002 330xi, traded that for an 02 M3 and then finally to my 07 335i which I have had now for over two years and still loving it.

I had a 2004 Mitsubishi Diamante (bought from auction extremely cheap) that I was going to sell but just ended up keeping since it had no problems and I didn't pay much for it. It was hailed on a week later and the insurance paid me well over what I paid for it....and then I bought a 2004 B6 S4.
I think I did pretty well. |

Bought an Acura TL this past christmas and then sold it in March. So boring to drive, I couldnt stand it. I drove it from Raleigh, NC to New Orleans, LA and that drive made me never want to be in that car again. Traded it for the e92 335

Actually, I forgot 2 cars that were shorter than my GTI:
I bought a used Honda Civic Hybrid to drive for work, and returned it 2 days later. It started having problems with the battery right after I left the dealership. I then bought a Ford F150 for work, but realized the gas mileage was useless and I wasn't getting that much use out of it since I have another work truck too. So then I got a 2012 Prius plugin for work - and it's been perfect! Of course, the 335i is for fun driving and to keep nice - I definitely want to keep it until at least 2014. |

05 VW golf. I always wanted a golf to mess around with. Found one for super cheap (but it was an auto) and flipped it 2 days later for a 2k profit.
Then found a similar but 03 manual and bought that and still kept the 2k I made on the other car.
