'Different' colours
I have just seen for the first time an E92 in Platinum Bronze paintwork... only got a quick glimpse but I think it looked really quite nice.
This got me thinking, there are a few colours that we never see on the forum, the UK forum anyway: Arctic ?? does someone on here have this colour? Atlantic Blue Barbera Red Deep Green Platinum Bronze What is it with these colours??

Thinking about it, you're quite right - I don't think I've eer seen a Barbera Red E92.. I've seen a Deep Green (it's almost like a green-black) - didn't look so great IMO.. Isn' Platinum Bronze the one in the main E92 picture on the BMW UK site? If so, that's quite nice.. I think I remember seeing one or two of the press cars in the UK were that colour

There was a guy a few months back on here who had a 335d in Arctic, I seem to remember it was a completely standard car with no options. What is the colour of the car in the brochures which looks almost like aluminium?
Finally, we do have a Barbera Red E93 on here. |

The original E92 brochures and the pics on the BMW UK website were of the Space Gray. This can also look very like aluminium in certain lights.

Asked my dealer about the brochure colour 'phenomenon' when I saw another Plat Bronze E93 at the dealer when I took delivery of my car. He reckoned that early in a car's production life lots of people go for the publicised colours as they think they are the safe ones to go for, until people start to want to be different. However, I have only seen a few Space Grey E92s - most popular is Sapphire Black in my experience, followed by TiAg. |

If that is platinum bronze it looks a bit "considerably richer than yow gold" as I like to call it. (in the style of harry enfield's (?) show characters who were "considerably richer than yow").
Looks like it should be on a merc Like all the considerably richer than yow c-classes you see in silver...or all mercs for that matter, with their considerably richer than yow badge stuck up waiting for any peasant pedestrian to catch themselves on it

Yes mate it is, and the coupe in Rockit's post is Space Grey. The E93 looks OK to me but, IMHO, you won't see many in that hue after the first year when the fuss has died down. Unlike white E92 M Sports, which you'll start to see loads of |

Very nice nigelcat. I like the colour and it's one of those that looks different depending on the light. Shame that the M Sport models aren't available in a wider range of colours IMHO - Arctic, Monaco Blue, Montego Blue, Space Gray, Deep Green et al would all look good in the M Sport models.

Thing is, you see E60 5er M Sports in dark blue met, silver grey and deep green, and they look great (to me anyway). The restrictive M Sport 3er palette winds me up. As it was I wanted my car in white (don't see many of those!) but were I to order a new one in years to come the colour may well force the spec from my preferred M Sport to SE. I wanted space grey, but they wouldn't let me
I love white and had I thought about it, would probably have gone for white... Very vogue... SJ |

If not, surely a missed trick on BMWs part: M Sport models = more expensive than SE, and customers paying more for Individual paint on more expensive models = ker-ching!! Suspect the production line would melt down after a while with random colours everywhere but I really can't see the reason for the restrictions on the E9X M Sports line compared to the E60/61. I love white too (good job), but you do feel obliged to clean it constantly, more than I do with our other (metallic black) car. Wonder how I feel in 2 years??!! |

I think if I had asked exactly the right questions of exactly the right people, I could probably have had pink spots...
lol My experience is that the sales guys tend to stick to what they know and are comfortable with... as is usual it seems we are far more knowledgable as enthusiasts that the guys actually marketing the goods... Bit scary that really isn't it ! ? This is another example and when you are told no, unless you fully understand the alternatives you can't really argue... SJ |
