I know this has been asked many times and I've searched for an answer here but everything I seem to find relates to N54's.

I've had my car for 3 months now and it's at 43k. JB4 and bolt ons have been on for about a month and every once in a while I get a hiccup when I'm cruising at freeway speeds. I'm pretty sure my car is still running the original plugs so it's probably time to change them. I thought about having the dealer do it but I don't feel like taking everything off the car and bring it in just so they can tell me that they can't reproduce the hiccup and plugs aren't due until my next service, which will probably be just out of warranty. So I'm just gonna replace them myself.

The only plugs I've found are the stock Bosch plugs at $17.95. Is there a good alternative out there? What makes those things so expensive considering most other plugs are a fraction of that price? Are there better ones to get now that my car is tuned (such as NGK)?

Any advice is much appreciated!

I just installed the nfl laser iridium 5992 plugs. 11 dollars each. They are known to be best plugs for high boost application. I have only been a few hundred miles in them but they are def smoother than the old ones I had with 29k miles. I recommend them.

Don't forget to gap them.
They say to .022 inches for n54 but I was told n55 are supposed to be a slightly wider gap. I am not an expert on that but I gapped mine to .024 and they work great.

I go through the stock plugs every 10-15k miles! just installed OEM Bosch ones, but my next set will def be the NGK iridiums

Not to revive an old thread, but didn't want to start another spark plug thread. This is the only one I've found with just a little information on the N55 that wasn't negative in regards to plugs.

During my research the number that comes up the most for N55 is 0.022" on the 5992 plugs. There is a 1:1 ratio of people who run that just fine and others who get random misfire and rough idle. I've also seen a lot of people with FBO and tune going back to the stock BMW plugs at the 0.8mm (0.0314") gap and they say it runs just fine since they don't have an upgraded turbo.

Is there any more concrete information on spark plugs and the desired gap?

yeah I would also like to know what the best most concrete setup is .. im at 27k with a newely tuned n55 with the stock plugs for now
