I love that everyone is so quick to point the finger and complain and you should have done this or that. So it's not exactly what every one of you dreamed up did you really expect it would be? Basically rombinhood and his team came up with a better version of a Cobb added more features cut the price in half and gave you more accessibility. And you want to complain about it. Unbelievable.
Anyway great job guys I'm excited. When will we be able to get our hands on it? And expect shipments to be ready?

Open source ahh lol
From open source to selling the JZW Tuning with an changed interface, bin locked and can't do the most important feature which is logging at the price tag of $395? And people see this as the greatest thing after justin bieber? You may need to choose your business partners a little better next time. Just saying.

Is there any benefit for us that already have a Cobb unit to switch over?
It's definitely interesting but it would take a lot for me to get rid of my stack lol.

Just to all dipshits: If you do not like it, do not see the opportunity... think it is to cheap... DO NOT BUY IT! You do not have to,.,..

I think this unit will offer more functions in the future. Lets see some customer reviews first. I like the idea that there is still room to expand the features and time will tell what is the better choice.

Talk to us about tables...
I currently have the Cobb AP with JB4 on IJEOS rom and still suffer somewhat from the flatline timing recovery in 5th gear..

I agree on the marketing, it was done poorly. Don't title it open source alone, it should of had a better description. It has the potential to stimulate the n54 community into creating a true open source, it cheaper than cobb and you don't have to tear your car apart to tune it. I want one!

Damn, was hoping for some true "open source" stuff here. Time to keep working on this linux flashing software...
But nice job building what looks like a cool product.

If you can leave black marks on a straight from the time you exit a corner till the time you brake for the next turn....... Then, you have enough horsepower. |

With the jb4 in place I no longer go to -3.75 deg of timing post shift... Timing drops to 6 post shift then recovers to the requested 10 deg

Well I'm sad to see the vin lock since that would have allowed it to qualify as open source close enough for me, but from those screen shots... I'm definitely liking what I'm seeing! Also, I use tunerpro RT (donated), do you think the real time functions can be enabled for datalogging, even if it's just via a saved log file from the device?
Regardless of the downsides to this project going away from true open source it's still hands down the biggest thing to hit the tune world for this platform period. Well done! I'll be picking one up in the near future. |

This isn't open source if the only way you can load maps to your car is a proprietary device. Just isn't. It was originally portrayed as real open source tuner software with the only requirement being an OBD interface cable to flash maps. That's the issue many are having here, supporters. COBB has some huge advantages over this as of right now: -Complete COBB backup and install from stock takes less than half the amount of time this device takes to just back the car up. -~12 minute map flashes vs ~2 minute flashes with COBB. -Customer Support, Customer Support. -Datalogging! -Decent OTS maps and big list of professional tuners that support the platform. -About the display complaint, I have a gauge for what I need. Before I did, I'd mount the COBB up and could see my boost/IAT/etc readings just fine with no fingerprints I will congratulate OP for his work as I can imagine how tough something like this would be to do (I don't think anyone doubts that), but don't claim something to be even remotely open source when it isn't (vin lock screams this), it just uses existing hardware from Alientech adapted to work with the N54. That's the issue we are having. |
