dont the R models usually have AWD? Yeah if it was FWD with a "performance" diesel that would be a joke, but AWD can be pretty well executed. They do have Audi to rely on so making the AWD good should be easy

Hopefully they will add rear wheel drive with an electric motor to the Golf.
I miss my Golf TDI sometimes. I could carry so much crap in back. I liked the front seats too.

AWD performance diesel would be tons of fun. I always thought the mid 2000s r32s felt more like an Audi than the A3 (or maybe even the a4s of the era)...certainly more like an Audi than a VW.

yes amigo Rotor AUDI is the MASTER of 4x4 specifically in DIESELS, remember the have won somewhat like 10 out of 15 Lemans races with QUATTRO and Diesels, so I would buy one cause the torque numbers would be almost at par as our I6 twin turbo DIESEL

that engine won't make it over here. The neat engines, in recent years anyways, don't come over here (PD150, 1.4 Twin charged, V12 tdi, 3 cyl tdi). We just got the 5.0 V10 tdi that might be able to pull a 747, but that's about it.

The GTD will possibly be my next purchase if the 335d goes south between now and end of the 50k/4 years. That would be May 2016, although my mileage is outstripping the calendar at the moment.
On a side note, I just filled up the tank and got 30.1 mpg. Not too spectacular except it included an hour and 40 minutes at the Shenandoah Circuit. And although I am a rank amateur, the D was earning its stripes.

My sister-in-law still drives it daily with over 240,000 miles on that 1.9 liter HEUI Turbo Diesel. My point is, don't doubt VAG where TDI is concerned.
