There is not an XM adapter for an E90 that brings XM audio in over the OEM connection and lets you use the OEM user interface. The expense of the HW for the BMW MOST network is high enough that no one has gone that route.

There is the method of using an XM portable and bringing the audio in over the aux in jack.

Personally, I'm just going Sirius and keeping the OE UI. Either they merge or XM runs out of money first. Either way I get to hear MLB eventually

VP is right. I already had XM in my other vehicle so I hardwired a portable XM to the shark fin via aux input (In DIY section took 20 min). This is actually a good solution because I can record so I use it as a SAT reciever and MP3 in the house / Bimmer.

BMW has been an exclusive Sirius supplier since the introduction of satellite radio in cars... no OEM XM.

The aftermarket used to offer an XM kit that pretty much worked as OEM in the E46, but only for non-navigation systems. In the E9x and don't see that happening because of the MOST network, much less because of the announced merger.

Actually, the HW cost is the only thing stopping the aftermarket - I can assure you that XM/Audiovox and Sirius/Directed are poaching the OEM compatibility from the other whenever they can, imminent merger or no.
