the other wheels you have are good, but these are different gravy, will look amazing on the car.
in theory I would want the same length of stud showing front and back, but not sure how it will actually look on the car.

awesome purchase bud! i am interested to see how this stud pattern thing works and looks! definitely individual as i havent seen it done before!

what are the specs on the wheels bud, the front and rear J and what tyre dimensions are you putting on them?

your original set looks like its running a slight stretch? looks top!

Stud conversion not a new thing. 'Players' show last year loads of cars running studs with various poke and coloured nuts. It was at this show I got the idea of running slightly longer bolts on the back to mirror the bigger dish on the rears.

The new orange m3 gts runs studs.

Current wheels 9s and 10s with 235/ 255 and a bit of stretch. Used contis as they have a rim protector and helps to look stretched.



New wheels will be 9s on the front with 235 30 20 so the same, and 10.5 rear with 265 30 20 so roughly the same.

Well, evolve couldn't get me in this week ( booked in for next Wednesday) for a run on the rollers and maybe re fit of the oem airbox if needed, so I found myself with a day off and a list of things I should be doing......

Decided to do none of those and play with the car instead.

Rather sad start but the carbon fibre vents would never quite clip in so were a little proud. Popped them out and did a bt of diagnosis and after a while worked out that if I inserted the plastic oem inner only then popped the cf vent in after it fitted perfectly. Happy now.



Then battled with the steering wheel carbon fibre centre. Won in the end! Will be dyeing the yellow stripe orange shortly.



Then started to wrap my trim in silver carbon fibre. Needed to brighten the interior up. Still not sure wether to fully re trim in orange or just retrim rear seats/ door cards in bkack leather/ alcantara with silver stitching?

Only got the rear done bit happy with them.

Will try and get fronts inserts, dash trim and probably centre console done over weekend.

Dropped my new rear ch-r's of last night to treadfirst and a can of black spray.
They sprayed up some wheel weights. Silver wheel weights on black wheels a no no ( OCD?)



Bit worried when I saw this service update. I want mine to look like the car on the right!


Chris ( good lad) at treadfirst in Stowmarket treated my wheels like they were his own children and fitted the tyres without a single mark. A real perfectionists.

Might need to dial in a bit more camber on the rears as the 10.5 are close with the 15mm spacers.



Well happy with the results. Just need to get stud conversion fitted now I finish off the look.

Favourite free mod of the day was, I was suffering from wind on the passenger window. Tried adjusting door, no joy. Mate noticed the upright rubber at the back of the front window was under the trim and not in the trim like the other side. 2 mins later and popped it over. Not particularly optimistic but 100 mph and no wind noise! Happy days.

Nick, I gotta' say I was a bit skeptical with the BBS wheels just because I didn't think the look you had witht he old wheels could have been any better, but buddy you've just stepped into a whole 'nother realm!

Arguably one the best threads hands down and one hell of a nice looking motor!

Question though.. what are wheel weights? Noob Q I know but I'm having my new wheels put on fairly soon and all the body work done to change things up a bit and need to know what the wheel weights do.

Also, I read earlier on somewhere you have the rim protectors? Are they any good and do they really do what they're meant to do within reasonable means? Where did you purchase them from if you don't mine me asking?

Thanks Sam. Wheel weighs are just what they use to balance a wheel normally when fitting a tyre to prevent vibrations. If you look on the inner barrel of your wheels you will see some small weights. They are normally silver. I got them to spray them black prior to fitting. ( sad?)

They commented on how little weights were needed as good quality wheel but all wheels will need balancing.

The rim protector is a original bbs rim protector. They came with the wheels. Basically a lip that fits over the wheel. You can't really tell its not part of the wheel tbh. Some people remove but I liked it to complement my colours.

Not sure about effectiveness but basically if I curb the wheel I will not damage my wheel, and just need to replace the rim protector.

Question for you, Nick; how are you finding your new brakes now they've obviously bedded in and you've got some miles under them? Are you as impressed as you were by the previous set you had on the 335d?

Super impressed. Very sharp. I've not given them any ( proper) stick yet, but they tick all my boxes. Aesthetics are high on my agenda but they perform faultlessly and where as I found the oem set spongy these are very responsive with little fade.

Love the car mate! The colour And choice of mods has resulted in a car truly on its way to being awesome!!!

Time for front carbon splitter, carbon rear diffuser, and most importantly LED angel eyes to replace the regular ugly unbalanced halos...and full blackout to go with that awesome look!

Interesting on the wind noise fix, need to look at that myself. Get wind noise at higher than average speeds! I laugh as its not something you get to notice on a test drive!!

I'd say sounds about right, but don't forget it depends on the type of tyre aswell to your overall look.

I'd say orig spec for a 10.5 would be between 275-295 but just my opinion. I'm running 265, and 235 on the 9" front.

Loads if Pics on google, just make sure tyre brand same.
