Not far from where i am that! Would you really want a car of that performance back on the road after that? Regardless of wether Mclaren did it or not!

Yes. McLaren completely rebuilt the car and it's probably in better shape now than it ever was.

What I'm more surprised about was that they were able to fix that car and get it roadworthy again! They must have replaced most of the car in order to save it. Do McLaren still keep a massive amount of spares for these things?

I doubt it - they'd have the tooling though and just remake the required parts.

Yep and modern manufacturing is so much more advanced than that of 20 years ago it is probably fairly trivial to manufacture things that were difficult by the standards when the F1 was designed and to a higher quality.

I always wonder what an F40 would be like if they made it with modern materials and processes and obviously not abiding by any of the regulations that restrict modern cars.
