Prices of cars in the UK....

Funny how times have changed....not so long ago Europe was the place to go to import your car and save ££££ as the UK car buyer was paying considerably more than our European neighbours for the same cars , now it seems that the UK is one of the cheapest places in Europe to buy a new car due to the weak pound amongst other factors.

I have just specced up an identical E90 M3 to the one i have ordered on the German BMW configurator and it came out at 87000 Euro or £71000

Sweden, Switzerland and the Netherlands are unbelievably much more expensive than this, your thoughts??

Is it too late to get Park Lane to swap it to LHD, and sell it in mainland europe somewhere when you're done - assume selling in Germany not possible for tax reasons ?

Is that down to taxes or just the base prices of the cars? I agree with you that it is unfair for different nations to be paying vastly different sums for the same cars.....as i have said the UK used to be one of the worst but now is one of the best, good for us - bad for you

Ha ha! I have already thought of this and it is not feasable unfortunately. I could order a car from a German dealership but then i would be paying the German price - 19% tax so it would not work out that great and also if i buy the car tax free then i must keep the car for 12 months before selling otherwise i will face the tax bill that i saved.

A UK dealer cannot order a Geman spec car -you would have to go through the German system as above.

It is far too late anyway as my car is now built and in the UK awaiting PDI
How do you know that i ordered the car from Park Lane ???????

What tax do you pay if you e.g. import a 2-4-6 year old German car into Denmark? 180% tax on a new car is insane.

PS I thought Park Lane did cars for any market, or am I getting confused with Mercedes Piccadilly?

New car value is automatically added 180% on import price

Used import is valued by the state tax office, and duty imposed on their appraisal of the value of an equivalent model sold on danish plates..

e.i, they screw you propper out of your hard earned..
