new springs and shocks vs. coilovers?

Would one get less stress on other moving parts in suspension from just adding new shocks and springs, rather than coilover? I know some e46 M3 owners have had torn subframe due to coilovers, and dealer denies 8000$ warranty claim due to aftermarket coilovers, anyone experience anything like this?

It's all in the spring rates and dampening ... doesn't matter if it's coilover or not.

Coilovers for the most part are identical to the components they replace. Lots of times for the rear, they replace the spring with a shorter spring that then sits on an adjustable perch. The stress and forces are applied to the suspension the same way as traditional springs and shocks.
