It shouldn't, but I wouldn't let it sit on my paint on a hot day. That's how most people take off their emblems anyway.

In my experience, goo-gone will not damage the paint if you use it sparingly. I assume that the only thing you need goo-gone for is to remove the leftover adhesive after debadging your car. I can't imagine any other use you might have for it that would require direct contact with paint.
goo-gone will strip wax though, so whichever panel you use it on, be sure to re-wax the surface.

Thanks fellas. It is some stringy gummy black substance that oozed out of one of my hardtop sections onto the corner of the roof. Thankfully the car is black sapphire

I haven't had any damage to my paint when using goo-gone. Immediately after I use it, I spray that area with water so there is absolutely no residue left behind. And if it's an area that I want wax on, I always wax it right away. You should be fine.
