BMW mods or a Bike

Don't know whether to dump some money into my '06 330xi @ 90k miles (and running like a dream) or if i should buy a Triumph daytona 675 to save gas around campus and prevent the miles from creeping ever higher on the BMW.

what do all of you think??

How about: Sell car, invest money into a newer 3-series? I voted on the mod, and then I read how many miles you have. Far too many to mod now. You'd rather invest, because mod money on something like this will just be a waste, IMO.

Mod is pure waste...
Buy a motorcycle to have extraordinary experiences.
Devaluation of a bike is around 500$/year.

My buddy has the daytona 675. Nice bike but expensive parts. Alternator died, but hopefully only the bridge went south, we replaced it with a MOSFET bridge - a must have mod since the original bridge is notorious to fail.

I ride as much as I can. You can also get addicted to track time with the bike.

Funny... 90,000 miles far to many to mod? you make it sound like it's a old banger ready to die!

Anyway i voted for the Bike. The 675 is an awsome bike! british made and very reliable. I love my bike, it's my weekend toy - every man should have one, lol. You'll have the best of both worlds then.

bike.

I have a bmw r1150r and try to use it whenever i can. your car will eventually need silly stuff but will mechanically be sound for a while. you may have to save up for replacement of various bits and pieces.

Thumbs up

Go for the bike, modding the car is fun, but being on two wheels is a completely different experience you tend to become one with the road, in addition to that modding a bike is waaay cheaper than the bimmer. I swear the sh*t that Ive ordered within the last couple of weeks for this car, I could have bought me a new bike by now. I actually prefer to drive my bike('04 GSX-R 750) rather than the car during the week because of the better gas mileage( $15 full tank), the extra attention you get while cruising around, and plus not everyone has a bike

go with the bike. I have an '07 335i with 60k miles and it and did the MSF course / purchased a sport/touring bike 4 months ago. My car now sits in the garage except on weekends for errands and when it rains. 20 minutes to work on my bike... 45 minutes in my car.

Just make sure you save for gear. A good vented helmet + leather + boots can easily run over $1k. I've dropped $1,500 so far on gear but I feel much safer compared to my initial 2-3 times riding the bike.

And last but not least... the Daytona 675 is effing gorgeous.

I have both. Mods on 330 is a waste. Get N54 +mods and a bike. Go big.

Get your Mod on...I'm sure your can get more than 90K miles out of your car if you properly maintain it...especially if it is paid of, putting a few $K into it a year is much cheaper than a car payment.

Bike Bike Bike

Nothing like riding a bike. Use the 330 as your backup.
