never buy a demo CAR

i got a 2011 bmw 328xi from my dealership with 2400 miles on it. i was told that it was never in an accident, but it turns out it was. I was getting my coilovers installed when the shop noticed that my sub frame was bent. they asked me if i was in an accident and i have not. ive had the car since october and dropped my car off tonight. who knows what will happen form this but words of advice never get a demo car

Good advice I was considering a 2011 demo/loaner/corporate. I hope you get everything handled.

Did it not show up in the car fax (not that it's a guarantee of anything BUT if they did show you a clean carfax and you have proof of accident, I'm sure there's some recourse on your end)?

carfax is a lie...read the fine print. you have to register the car to carfax within a few days of purchase for it to qualify for that buy back garbage.

paul miller i mean it could not even be the dealers fault bc sometimes accidents happen on the port and they cover it up and dont tell the dealer to where the car is going bc most ppl dont take there cars apart

Why would you ever pay new prices for a car with 2400 miles on it? I would not buy a car with 240 miles on it as new. Hell, even 24 miles would be a red flag to me.

Sounds like you were defrauded. I forsee a future where the dealer accuses you of crashing it, denies any responsibility and leaves you to get a lawyer and threaten litigation before you get any accommodations. Good luck.

Couldnt you have just asked them or the carfax and check before buying?

What carfax? The car was probably never registered for it to have something on the carfax.

You just assume that? Did you bother asking? They legally have to show you the carfax if you request it. If it did have an accident and got repaired it would have been on it.

So true.. demo car = fail. Before we purchased our X5 off of my parents lease, my wife was looking to buy a Lexus is250. So the dealer had a white one like she wanted, it was fully loaded and had no accidents. So we go to the dealer to test drive it, and as soon as i pulled in the lot i could tell the rear bumper paint was way off from the rest of the car. The salesman assured me it wasn't in an accident but clearly it was. Needless to say we didnt buy that demo POS and took over the X5 which we love.

You guys make no sense. Everything your saying about a demo car can be said about a CPO. Look at all the people who mod their leased 335 and beat them to shit on this forum. The only way you can be sure that a used ANYTHING was not abused is if you knew the previous owner very, very, very well.
