AMG Performance Tour national series. Basically, displays of AMG cars, test drives, free gifts and food and stuff. Although its at the dealership, its supposedly not a sales event, probably similar to the Susan G Komen drives in setup.

Anyways, the details are tbd. I have the dates though, it will be held on 10/11/08

The event offers an immersive, multi-media presentation, test drives of AMG models, an interactive gallery showcasing AMG’s mechanical pedigree, and a one-of-a-kind acceleration simulator exercise. It’s an unforgettable experience that you won’t want to miss.

Will I be able to drive at the AMG Performance Tour?
Yes – both virtually and in reality! We provide the rare opportunity to get behind the wheel of an exclusive selection of our models for a street drive with a knowledgeable product specialist. Additionally, a high-speed acceleration run on a customized simulator will demonstrate the raw power of the C63 AMG.

Where is the AMG Performance Tour event held?
Please refer to your personalized invitation. The AMG Performance Tour will be held at the participating AMG Performance Center / Mercedes-Benz dealership near you.

How long is the event?
Each AMG Performance Tour event is planned to last approximately 1 – 1.5 hours to be able to enjoy all the activities planned for you.

What do I need to bring with me?
Please bring your valid driver’s license and confirmation email. A Liability Waiver will be provided at the event for your review and signature. You may also wish to bring sunglasses and/or a sun visor or cap as portions of the event will take place outdoors. Similarly, a light jacket will be helpful as the event will take place rain or shine.

Can I bring my child to the AMG Performance Tour?
While AMG welcomes enthusiasts of all ages, please know that the content of the event has been tailored to adult audiences, so please judge accordingly especially for small children. Similarly, persons under 18 years of age are welcome, however they are ineligible to drive and need not be registered.

May I bring a guest?
Yes, however guests must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license if they intend to drive the vehicles. All guests 18 years of age or older must be registered.

What is the minimum age for driving?
Drivers (attendees and guests) must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.

Can I drive more than one vehicle?
You can drive as many vehicles as you want subject to availability and as time allows.

Can passengers/children ride along when I test drive a vehicle?
Yes, any guest may ride along, however the front passenger seat is reserved for the AMG Product Specialist who will guide the drive route. There is no age requirement for a backseat passenger, however, child seat laws will be followed. Parents are responsible for providing and installing their own child seat.

Will there be car seats available for my child / children?
We regret that no child car seats will be provided or installed. Kindly bring your own age/weight appropriate child seat.

Can I forward this invitation to a friend?
You may forward this invitation to a friend; however, we will not be able to guarantee a reservation. Friends can register at www.mbusa.com/AMGtour/. If the events are filled, they will be placed on a waiting list and will be notified if and when a spot becomes available.

What is the cancellation policy?
We request the courtesy of a cancellation within 48 hours of the event so that we can offer wait listed customers an opportunity to participate.

I would like to to register for one of the AMG Performance Tours, but the event is already filled. What is your recommendation?
We recommend that you register for a specific date and time, which will place you on the wait list. Wait list registration is not a guarantee of participation. Correct and current contact information is essential for notification purposes.

Will refreshments be provided at this event?
Light refreshments and beverages will be served.

What type of attire is appropriate?
Attire should be comfortable, casual and cool. Tennis shoes, sneakers or other rubber-soled shoes are recommended. Sandals, open-toed shoes and shorts are not recommended.

Will I be able to purchase AMG merchandise at the event?

Some 'reviews' (various sources)

"I went to the event this morning in West Covina. They had the C63, E63, ML63, CL63, and SL63 on hand for road tests on public roads and with a "driving instructor". There was also an "acceleration simulator" which consisted of a C63 on a dynamometer. The main drawback to the event is actually the five page exit questionnaire with questions such as, "Which auto manufacturer is most respectful?". All things considered, if you live within 10 miles of the site and like driving, go for it. "


"They gave out an AMG hat and a box of surprisingly cheap candy (about five pieces). There were drinks and candy and cookies.

The thing I disliked the most is the mob of Chinese-speakers that were in attendance (about 80% of the crowd). They were loud and borderline obnoxious. As soon as one finished a test drive, they might immediately join another of his friends in the front of the line for another test drive. The cheapest of these cars starts at nearly $70,000 and there were a lot of guys in tattered clothes and flip flops. I'm assuming these were the slick dealers.

The police were all over the place. I had one tail me for about 1/3 of the trip. You could not open up the cars at all because of the police presence."

"They also had water, coffee, muffins, and fruit available to guests as we entered. I wouldn't go just for the swag. I had a 9:00 appointment and there were very few guests (~20) and not a single police car on the route although my cousin's "driving instructor" repeatedly reported false sightings (presumably to slow him down). The group demographic that morning was predominantly middle-age and most looked as if they could afford to at least lease one of the cars (think business casual). It should also be pointed out that they had a Mclaren SLR and CLK Black Series for display only (unfortunately). And when they let you out of the marketing presentation (complete with well-timed fist bumps)...Don't waste your time on the dyno... get in line for the cars. "

The Taste of Lexus Encounter event will be held at Tysons Corner Center August 18-19, 2008 11:00 to 19:00

Its a scaled down version of the Taste of Lexus events we've been to, but I expect some refreshments, giveaways and test drives ( LS460L, IS250 F Sport, RX 400h and the ES350 )

Other than the food last year, I thought it was a waste. the course didnt let you really test the car, although I didnt expect any of the cars to ride well in the first place. i was absolutely right

Paul, the food IS the main reason we go to the Lexus events They do know how to be hospitable, I give you that. The best Taste of Lexus event for me was the one staged in 2004, my god what a buffet of cars (Lexus and others) to sample.

Yep. I love these places, how good the food tastes is 100% dependent on you However, I do have my own strategies.

It is. the thing is you choose your raw meats, spices, veggies, etc.
and they just cook it for ya.
They do have some suggestions on how much of what to use.
or you just add here and there and hope for the best.

i love Mongolian BBQ, i pretty much take a little of everything and it tastes pretty good. the trick is knowing how to make a sauce; growing up Asian kinda helps too
