Spark plug replace under warranty

Probably not the right section, but quick question...
My warranty is up in the beginning of May and my car is at 44.3k miles right now. I would really like for the dealer to change my plugs as mentioned in the service manual at 45k miles. From what a service adviser told me before is that they will do it at my 3rd oil change, but the computer is still showing 3200 miles until next oil change. Do you think they will go by the service manual?

A question for you:

Aren't you having issues with drive-ability on stock plugs being that you are tuned? Granted I have a pro tune on the COBB not JB4, but I was having hesitation and misfire issues with the stock plugs. Under the advice of my tuner for the interim until I could get the colder plugs, I brought the gap on my stock plugs down to .018" which helped but did not solve it. Now I am running N20 plugs and they work great even on my E50 tune.

FWIW, I would say if your car is running good with the stock plugs, just push your service adviser to change them early, mine was always pretty accommodating. Otherwise, don't even bother with the stock plugs and go with the colder plugs from the N20.

Thanks for the quick response. MY car was tuned a year ago with JB4 and down pipe and I found that in the winter I had start up and hesitation issues. Right now I don't experience these issues, but when my warranty is up I would like to put all of my mods back on. I would say with a tune these plugs were used for maybe 10k miles. The rest of the period was regular use.

I also have an issue with a noise coming from my driver rear wheel well, that I can't seem to get fixed. Last month when I brought it in, they inspected it and said that the wheel bearing needed to be replaced, and they did. However the noise is still there.

olivojo, Specifically what N20 plugs are you using? There was a comparison with 5 options a month or so ago, but no specific one mentioned.

My BMW shop said they wouldn't change plugs until 60k even though I was having some missing and hesitation issues. I was under CPO so they were covered and finally got them changed at 58k.

Yes via CBS they 'link' the 3rd oil service with the plugs (for N54 anyway - N55 is 60k) and air filter for 'your' convenience. Believe the manual say 45k OR 3rd oil service. Either there way once you are under 2000 miles for oil service it will show as RECOMMENDED when they do the key read. Then the SA can't question it. But if you can't rack up another 1200 miles by May then show the SA Websters definition of OR.

Ah, I thought it was 45k not 60k for N55. Guess Ill take a road trip somewhere to get to that 3rd oil change.

I just had my spark plugs replaced at this shop and the guy also said its every 60K for N55. But I think if you have a tune, that you are supposed to do it sooner. Since I have a JB4, I will probably replace the plugs every 50-55K miles or until I notice any misfires or rough idle happening.
