Bubble in tire
hello,
I hit a pothole and got this on front driver side, how soon should I replace this tire, is it safe to drive this tire for a while? |

Internal sidewall torn from impact.
Opinions will vary but the jumping sensation will irritate me enough to replace it ASAP - which is the advisable solution. But then there are the people who insist a tyre showing canvas on the inner edge is still good if the rest of the tyre has some resemblance of tread. |

I've got a bubble maybe a bit worse that I've driven on for 10K or so. I'm waiting for the tire to get closer to the wear bars.
Obviously, YMMV, and it's your choice. |

The side wall is torn, if it were my car I'd replace it quick. If it ends up blowing the damage will far exceed the cost of a new tire , and if it decides to let loose at high speeds you could end up killing yourself or someone else. Or it may last until the treads are worn, but you gotta ask yourself if it's worth the risk for $200- $400.

If you can swing it, ideally you would replace two. |

Bummer, I hate tire bubbles they usually cause me to take a trip to the tire shop at least once a year (our roads are lovely here in Ohio). My official answer is to change it out asap, my reality answer is I've driven on a tire like that for a month without any bad side effects (read I got lucky don't do this).
Most tire shops will be able to suggest used tire vs new tire by looking at tread depth. I've been lucky a few times and been able to snag a LKQ used tire for very cheap vs the cost of a new tire. |

If you replace it you'll also need to replace the other side. A problem is if that is a PSS, you may not find one, or the set as they are being replaced by the newer Michelin tyre. I was through this a couple of months ago. Good luck.

Decided I had to replace it. Fronts were at 5/32, and the new one is 9/32 depth - a bit large and Costco wouldn't do it (their metric is 2/32 or 1% circumference difference. Also, Costco wasn't happy because 88W is no longer available and they wouldn't mount 88Y opposite a 88W. Bozos. IMO. |
