haha, I can ship you some if you want!

I'd prefur not to have them crossing the border they give me enough trouble each time I cross as it is.

Some of the local shops say they have no problem shipping to the states. So If you want I can try and find a shop that will for you. My old man lives in Colorado half the year, so I did some research for him back in the day. Most guarantee shipment, and if it doesn't make it, they will ship again free of charge. (I assume there's a price limit that is involved there)

(I was addicted to cigars in my early 20s then grew an allergy to tobacco)

No, if I want them they are easy enough to get as Wifey still has relatives in Vancouver. I don't smoke anyway but have had a few cigars. I think you could go to Victoria and then take the ferry back to SeaTac? It beats trying to cross the border if you do it during the day. Are you still going down 101?
Just a thought.

I actually did that route a few years back, great view of the Olympic mountains on the way over. Was debating doing that again this time as I have one of my best friends in Victoria and a free place to stay. They still hastel a bit over there, but not as bad as they did on I-5. I-5 also has a horrible tunnel that I always get stuck at for like 30 minutes in heavy traffic, so the ferry looks better and better every time.

I'm definitely still debating the 101. I only drive 2-3mph over the speed limit normally anyhow in the states (canadian plates are targets) besides, in my jeep, if I get an average of 20mpg over an entire day I'm usually pretty impressed. So the speed limit gives me the best range

I might take 101 to Portland (have a step sister there I'll visit) then maybe head down a bit and re-join 101 for a little while. and once I get into the redwoods, I'll probably head back inland and head towards Yosemite. From there I'd probably be going all the way down to San Diago and then start east again. If I decide to go to Cali. Time will tell. And so will patients.

I'm also debating driving all the way back through Canada, but something Tells me it won't be very pretty in April so I might hold back on that until a summer crossing some day. Maybe encourage some friends to join.

Reed,
tire chains in the trunk? Make your reservations for Yosemite and I don't think in Cali. you can drive that slow. It pisses us off.
Easily 5mph over and I regularly will do 8 over in the open sections zipping past the "man".

Rowdy,
That looks just like it. Just North of Vancouver or the islands?

Western Railway Museum, near Rio Vista California. They run excursions every weekend on old electric interurban rail-cars. They run on the old Sacramento Northern Railroad, which used to run from Chico to Oakland. Much of the old right of way in the east bay is now currently used by BART. This area however, pretty much looks as it did when these cars were in revenue service.
