Paint or Leave Natural?
Hi guys,
What is your opinion on spray painting the black mesh on my car a grey/ silver or gun-metal colour? Im not talking about the chrome grilles I got but the black mesh throughout the front bumper of car. Just want to tinker around again with my car....(i'm bored with it) and just wanted to hear your feedback. I'm umming and arring.

The black looks great with your blue paint. Go for some carbon fibre mods. I just love (almost) anything in CF... I mean, have you seen the M6 roof.

Go for CF wing mirrors or some interior trim in cf. Or go for bigger wheels. Or exhaust mods (they actually do make your car faster and sound great too). I could go on.... It's a question of $$$ I suppose. Have you looked at the mods options in British BMW enthusiast magazines (eg BMW CAR)? They're really good.

I saw the CF side pillars... they look ok. Not my cuppa though. I guess, it is subtle but dont know if its worth the $ when it wouldnt really stand out all that much on my gloss finished pillars i got at the moment. I like these 'stick on' CF or eyelids etc , but must admit, must be careful as it can really make the car look tacky.

LEA69 Mods so far :) :) :)

I got the M Sport 18"s at the moment... thought of going 20"s but Im one to go for the BMW ones... they look nicer to me personally rather than going after market with BBS etc... (no offence Astra, your car is HOT !!!) Already got an after-market rear muffler & dual tip exhaust - sounds good. Goes better in my mind.... And installed an K&N air filter Got the colour-matched eyelids happening (Which i absolutely love! Though many people hate it in this forum!!) I partner made a silver mesh to go in my M-Sports Rear bumper bar. In our bumper car, we have a sorta 'indentation pattern' that runs across the bar, it was the same dark grey plastic as the rest of the lower half of the bumper, but have mesh in there now which the guys at Doncaster BMW absolutely love and rave about! (mate...it was hand made!!!) Have a reverse camera put in in my rear number plate...very chic! Looks like I'm spying on ya when we're stopped at the lights and I'm in front!! Have a playstation installed under front passenger seat (for DVD movies rather than games) & hooked up to the same tv monitor for the reversing camera on my dash (its only small 4") but Im at a dilemma on where to put a bigger screen and not hack up the dash too much. Found a self 'pop up' screen yesterday which im going to look at on Friday to see if I can set it into the top dash central airvent. I love mods, but also hate physically altering the shape-line of the car. I like everything done in 'stealth mode' - not visible at first glance. I have on order some brushed aluminium rings/ speaker covers that are coming in this or next week to sort of jazz up the interior. I like the sportier aluminium look rather than carbon fibre. CF would be way too dark in my car as I have the black roofing upgrade. so Everything is black inside!!!! Seats, steering/ roof.... its the shiny aluminium that is giving it some colour! HA! And thats it so far...... not touching the headlights and putting in xenons/ angel eyes... so im stumped.... thought of rear headrest tvs... pretty easy job to do... but why pay for passengers to have all the fun?!!! I want to have the fun!!! Maybe I'll go for new speakers and an amp to power them. Then I got the issue of the headunit... and controls on my steering.... too much hassle to muck them up!!! ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:coo l:

that is a good suggestion CaptOz.... I'll give it a shot...just have to get round to taking the right photo then playing on the pc changing it. But so far, and even my own bf, and everyone on the forum have suggested leaving it stock. So ill probably just stick with that. I would be annoyed at myself if I did a dodgey spray job and it looked horrendous!!!

Lea .... I've seen the photo's of your car but can't really make out the mesh in the rear bumper. any chance of posting a clearer pic of the mod.
4" LCD could work in with your sunvisors .... just a thougth. I don't mind the eyelids. Not something I'd do but they look good and give the car a unique personality. Where are you getting the speaker rings from. I've been looking for something like that as well. |
