DIY Dakota Oyster Leather Repair
Hi all,
My 2009 E90 LCI with Dakota Oyster Leather had some wear marks on the bolster (common area). I bought some leather dye on ebay, it came in a little tube, and I simply cleaned the area with Auto Glym Leather Cleaner, wiped it on, let it dry with a hair dryer, then cleaned the area and wiped off the excess that did not stick to vinyl coated leather that was not worn. The dye stuck to the area where it was worn off. The colour from the eBay vendor was a little light, but as you can see, it blended well. Any questions, ask away!

It is a bit light, not bad for an eBay item. Ideally the pigment would need to be protected to prevent it simply coming off via your clothing. How long has it been on the seat, and has there been any transfer onto your clothes?

No transfer yet, it was done just the other day. I let it dry over night. I was thinking it needs a top coat, or a vinyl coat, but I am not sure what to use at the moment.

I'd recommend LTT auto ultra protect. It's what I use after cleaning or re-colouring leather.
Link:http://www.lttsolutions.co.uk/auto/a...a-protect.html I will be re-colouring my interior from red to purple in the new year and will post a write up step by step |
