335i actuators [where to buy? ]

My friendly indy took a look at the car tonight after having a chat about my boost issues. He mentioned that the actuators can get a bit "lazy" and this could be causing the issue.

Are they a BMW stealer only part?

Unlikely the turbo actuators, rob beck says they are fine on n54 and doesn't replace them. But in the scenario that they are buggered: Bmminiparts can sort you out. Forge also make n54 turbo actuators.

But If its at the turbo rather than a vacuum problem it's more likely to be a sticky wastegate issue.

Take it to a turbo specialist rather than a BMW indie, I've found they have no idea about twin turbo direct injection petrol engines.

Ok mate anyone you can recommend?

Got smoke test tomorrow to rule out that side of things, maybe it will be something as simple as a vac hose.

I'm yet to use someone decent with the exception of Darren Woods in Stockport!

If my issues continue I'll probably pay these guys a visit:

Send a message via MSN to m1bjr
You have explored logging the HP fuel line pressures and LP lift pump feed pressure etc?
You'll lose boost as it will 'manage' it all over the place with erratic fuel pressure....
And the HPFP is such a common issue.

Hi Steve sorry for the late reply.
I have just changed the JB4 module [ given to me by idnan ] and it still doesnt seem right, although it does feel a bit better. Im still thinking its the diverter valves or chargepipe!

Not sure i know how to do what you are suggesting, any guides anywhere or is it a garage job?

Do you have the usb lead connected now? If not do this next.

Then do some logging for 3 or 4 pulls, post the graphs up here and send to Terry for comments...

Hey Phil hows it going?

Yeh did some pulls with the new module fitted, boost still tailing off at about 12psi. Im going to fit a BMS charge pipe and Forge DVs i think. Even if that dont cure it, it's a nice upgrade to have anyway.

One thing i did notice when fitting the JB4 module was there seemed to be a noise coming from the chargepipe area every now and then. The car was left for 30 minutes to let the ecu goto sleep but, there was still this noise every now and then. Sounded like something opening and closing, should of recorded it.

Was deffo coming from the DV / charge pipe area though. Is that normal?
