Continental ExtremeContact DW - an obvious no-brainer???

I'm so sick of paying $$$ for stupid Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires that aren't even particularly good, according to the latest Tirerack tests...

Seems like the Continental ExtremeContact DW tire beats the PS2 in every way (including comfort!) and massively in price (about $60 PER TIRE!)... And it's ranked #1 in its class in the user surveys too...

So why would anyone not buy it???

Just wondering, since this seems like the answer to the eternal question of "which tire to buy?"... this one seems like the best choice unless one is going for ultimate grip...

Any thoughts?

Oh, and the Continentals come with more tread!

10/32" instead of 9/32"

WTF is Michelin trying to pull??? Is it just basically luxury pricing because of reputation? (Seems like it to me...)

I'm sure the Super Sport will be even more $$$! (But yes, I agree that there are some intangibles with respect to handling that are not fully captured in the numbers.) Depends on what you're looking for/measuring... but getting 95% to 105% of the performance for 75% of the price is pretty sweet, that's all I'm pointing out.

I dont think the margin justifies to push the Michelin into the corner. I've used Michelin Performance tires on my cars for the past 20 years (Mercedes, BMW's including a M3 I drove for 4 years). I've never had a problem with them at all summer or winter.

My Z4 will get Michelin Summer Performance tires (Non-RFT) in the spring. Right now I am on 4 Michelin 18" Winter (Non-RFT) tires and I am happy all around I chose the tire.
