Opinion on new Enkei T6s wheels???
Found these on Tirerack's front page. I know they're marketed towards Japanese cars but I couldn't care less. I think the black ones would look slick as owl shit on my alpine white e92.
How do enkei wheels stack up in terms of fit, finish, and strength compared to the more common brands people have here on the forum such as VMR, Avant Garde, Forgestar, etc? I know they look like the unaffordable TE37's but Again, I don't care. I just want something different than the mesh style EVERYONE has. An 18x9.5 only weighs 23.5 lbs which ain't too bad at all. Only drawback IMO is that they are gravity cast which comes in at the bottom of manufacturing processes. They come in the staggered size i want too. Here they be. Right at $1000 for a set too. I don't know anything about the T6; but I've got a set of Enkei's for my snow tires. They seem very tough bashing around on potholes and rutted winter roads. The finish is holding up, but the silver rim holds dirt and grime and is no longer silver.
Make sure that the lug bolts that come with it are standard, or that your existing bolts fit: mine are a small-size and special head that needs a special socket (but mine has two sets of holes to fit two bolt patterns.) |

i had enkei wheels on my evo at one point and they did not bend or crack through some rough roads and conditions. The only complaint is that their finish is cheap and the clearcoat took a beating. It began to chip and peel in lots of places. The ones you are looking in my opinion would not look good on your car.

The T6S is new for 2014, so not much news on these yet, but I get the idea of you wanting to stray away from CSL/ZCP wheels. I was looking at these earlier too, but couldn't find the weight, and 23.5 lbs is on the heavier side.

These wheels look quite similar to Volk Te-37's, which look pretty damn good on an e92 or for that matter on many cars. Last edited by AughtOcho335; 03-05-2014 at 03:18 PM.. |

I was soliciting a comparison of structure and durability. And not just to the T6S's but to Enkei wheels in general. Nothing more.

Check out Rota? They have a few variations of this. Grid is one, and I can't remember the other. There's probably a few more companies. |

I was only able to find the Grid's in 17's the other night. I was half asleep though. Rota wheels get very mixed reviews though. |

Actually, I think these are exactly the opposite. The csl rep/mesh style fit the definition of generic much more so IMO, considering they are the wheel of choice for a good majority of BMW owners.
Don't see many with this style which is why these are appealing to me. I've always been drawn to broad six spoke wheels like this though. They look way more aggressive than the generic mesh everyone has. $1000 isn't much for a set of wheels either considering how pricey some brands can get. I just want a solid wheel that's different and will last a good long while. If a $1000 makes that happen then that's what I'll do. |

These Rota Grids look better the more I look. They just get so many mixed reviews... I hate wheel shopping....
Plus they're made in the Philippines. That just doesn't sit well with me for some reason. |

lol don't kid yourself...just because they're made by Enkei doesn't automatically mean they came from Japan. Enkei makes wheels all over the place, which has almost nothing to do with the actual quality of the wheel itself:
ENKEI WORLD COMPANIES ENKEI AMERICA (U.S.) ENKEI AMERICA MOULDINGS (U.S.) ENKEI FLORIDA (U.S.) ENKEI INTERNATIONAL INC. (U.S.) ENKEI THAI ENKEI THAI MOULDINGS ENKEI MALAYSIA ENKEI ALUMINUM PRODUCTS (CHINA) ENKEI MOULDINGS (CHINA) ENKEI ZHONGNAN (CHINA) ENKEI INDONESIA ENKEI PHILIPPINES ENKEI WHEELS (INDIA) ENKEI VIETNAM The CSL/mesh design goes with Euro cars as RPF1s, Heliums, K1s, etc. go with Japanese cars...it just is what it is. Having said that, I couldn't care less which style ends up on a car, as long as it looks good |
