...sounds like the 335 was running 225 17" rubber at the back - with so little traction on offer its no wonder the clio "owned" it...

Also on track Ive done CSL's. Again I rekon I would go quicker around a track In a CSL than I would a mapped 335d.
dbx - have you ever driven a Ferrari F430? I did about 6 months ago and it's the most exhilarating and exciting machine I've ever driven. This list includes countless AMG's a 996 TTS and 400+ bhp Evo 7,8 & 9's. It will hit 0-60 in under 4 seconds. I'm sorry - but that fucker just couldn't drive

You want to hear it when you're in the cockpit. WOW!

anyways...an Integra Type R dc5 would also rape a clio! .....with 210bhp and the vtecccccc yoooo...it will kill your clio on track!...
The only problem is, it will take a VERY good driver and understanding of the VTEC engine for him to "rape" a clio 182 driver. People tend to forget how light the Clio is and is one of the finest FWD cars of any generation.

It all comes down to the driver. A Civic is only quick if the driver know's how to drive it. I used my brother's a fair bit if he had to borrow my car to do long journey's with his kids - and it's a very exciting engine. One of, if not THE best 2.0 N/A ever produced. It's a very tiring car to drive - but when you want fun - there's few others that make it just that. Fun.

On the CONTRARY.....BMWs are effectively 1 wheel drive w4nk!! Unless u fit one with a quaife diff!!

You can floor it in the inside lane then pull over to the 2nd lane for the next set of lights. I had a VXR Astra and in the dry it'd be fine but in the wet I'd just have to wait in the que as the grip was terrible. In the BMW even with the traction control on I have no problem pulling away a lot faster than the Astra just give it half throttle.
Not the wet conditions thats the problem it is the temperature with summer tyres on. If winter tyres are fitted then its a different story of course. The summer tyres give almost no grip at all in freezing conditions. Like i said, i would have to modulate the throttle in every gear upto at least 4th therefore negating any power advantage i may have. I could quite easily see how a hot hatch in these conditions could win a short burst from a standing start on the road - that is what i am saying.

What?!

I did keep up with the F430 but if I was driving it would
have left a 335.

The OP Clio 172 would not keep up with a 335 driven properly!

You are being silly now Carl, ill hand a 335 its buttered bollocks down a cuntry* road any day.

Ill just trigger my NITROZES.

*intentional

Anyway, Karma is having its wicked way with me for starting this thread.

Noticed a CV boot was broken on Bonk (Clio) when getting new tyres on the other day, so went to get a replacement CV boot, expecting a £20 OEM item......nah.....

Cant get them

New driveshaft only, circa £300.

BMW Ownership is cheaper.

Look, I agree........VTEC engines are stunning. I was doing all of that WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY back in 1995/6. People laughed at us then........"how big is the engine? eh.....1.6? you are clearly a poof sir" lol.

However, as has been mentioned, VTEC's are a wee bit, well.....tiring.

I only went for bonk because its safe (relatively), handles like a go kart and is very unassuming being silver.

Its just working out quite a bit more expensive than i had liked.

In my opinion, and dont get me wrong....I FCUKING hate French cars.....but Reno are the only people producing anything remotely hot and hatch in the same vein as the originals. Proper fast, awesome handling and affordable.....well, compared to the competition.

I used to be a big BIG Honda fanboy, not the cheese fest that you see driving about now........it had to be standard, unmolested and pure.

BUT, Honda have seriously lost the plot........they are not Honda any more. At all.
