e93 'alarm not found', dealer charged for trying
I recently helped a friend install the OEM alarm into an '08 335i convertible (april 08 build date I believe). We did the install by the book, as per the BMW retrofit instructions.
When he took the car to the dealer to be coded, they said the alarm couldn't be found to be activated. They tried unplugging it and plugging it back in which didn't help. I saw a thread on the 1 series board where someone had a similar problem, and it required a PUMA case to be opened and BMW NA remotely updated the car so the alarm could be activated. As of now I believe the dealer has charged about $250 for trying to activate it, even though they didn't succeed. Any suggestions on what we might try? Either asking the dealer to do something specific, or any possible recourse with BMW NA? Thanks for any help. |

figured I'd share the update - the dealer swapped the alarm for a new unit, and were able to code it. Then they swapped it back to the first alarm unit and were able to code that too.

Did they tell you why it didn't work? Seems to be happening with E93's.
We had a customer with the same issue. Luckily we got everything except the panic button functioning perfectly. |

I have alarm but NCS does not see these two modules when I read the VO. DWAI and DWAS, Yet my alarm functions as it suppose to! I am clueless as to why these two modules cannot be seen with NCSexpert

Nope, no explanation, I'm getting this information second hand but I think they were as confused as we were by it.
Interestingly, the panic feature DID work before it was properly coded, that and the clown nose blinking were the only signs of the alarm. Now it beeps on lock/unlock and the alarm options have showed up in idrive. |
