Yes! This is annoying! Also, post pictures!

How can you sell something with no price and no pictures? There excuse is, well it looks just like any other part. So does money, so can I take a picture of my money and send it to them for payment?

for private sales i agree.
i mean I always post 10% above my bottom price and write OBO.
but for vendors, it all has to do with their relationship with the supplier and MAP (minimum advertised price).
http://consumerist.com/2007/09/26/wh...ertised-price/
The supplier does this for their authorized resellers, and many times gives them a back end rebate that they only get after they sell the goods.
if they violate the MAP, they do not receive that $ on the back end.
this makes it so only authorized resellers can compete easily, and the supplier can keep a closer eye on their products sales channel.
this is why on amazon or bestbuy.com you see "add to cart to see final price"

Umm, its common practice everywhere to post your price. Do you go into Best Buy and be taken into the back room to be told the price of a TV?

Anyone who doesn't have a posted price gets looked over by me because it seems shady as shit to me. If its offer only you bet your ass I'm low-balling. Im not in some back-alley foreign market here.

I STATE that 99% of those who post "PM for price" are looking to rip someone off. They are hoping to catch someone unknowing and fleece them. If they posted a bent wheel for $2000 they are concerned that someone would post "Are you high?" and ruin their changes of ripping off some poor, ignorant sod. Same thing goes for those who post without pictures or information, they are hiding something they don't want you to know.

For any threads you go into that don't show a price you should just post "sold!" and see how long it takes for the seller to figure out why their inbox is empty.

lol. actually, i don't see the point of the vendors or private sellers doing this. for that matter, OP as well everyone else should post the price obtained from the pm on their for sale thread.

Pics should be required as well as the title containing a format of the following: Item Name - State - Price

That way each thread is clear and concise as to what it contains.

A few other forums I'm on, they require a list of information for private sellers.

Name:
Email:
Phone #:
Item:
Price:
Location: City, State
Willing to ship: Yes/No

And they ALWAYS include a pic. Leaving out ANY info and/or pic = thread DELETED

It makes every seller accountable for the items they are selling.

actually, alot of the required are pointless as you will be able to obtain through paypal. just item, price, shipping would be suffice imo. let's not overkill FS threads with bs inputs because my fingers will be tired beyond that point.

Seriously, it is annoying. Why is price a secret. Kind of like when you walk into a high end name store and nothing has a price... I don't want to keep asking how much something is damnit.

Doesn't Amazon post it's sale price online for Best Buy and Newegg to see?
We live in a capitalist economic system, posting prices hidden doesn't encourage competition.
