You had dinan on your 328i? I am surprised that someone who owned it would call it garbage. I am ver happy with mine. Why was your "garbage"
Wait I Know why. You NEVER owned one and you only go by what others say. Ask ANYONE who has heard the Dinan on my car if they liked it as much if not better than the other exhausts available. The tips and Muffler is not as SHINY as others and not as "good looking" but to me that does not matter. I got it because it is the best sounding exhaust I have EVER heard on a 3 series. This is my opinion but I have heard from others how much they like it. I got the Dinan for the sound not how it looks. Looks only go so far IMO. I have heard Rouge and Eisenmann with and without pipes and still like mine better. They are both nice exhausts and made very well but IMO they dont sound as good. Most everyone I know buys an exhaust for sound not if its shiny and looks nice UNDER the car where you cant see it. To the OP you cannot go wrong with Dinan or BMW. I like the Dinan because its a little louder than BMW but is not crazy loud. If you any other questions feel free to PM me to talk.

1000 for the exhaust + 850 for the intake? (tischer #s) versus like slightly more than 2k for the dinan S package

Yup, as others have said, you can stick w/ OEM BMW with the BMW Performance Exhaust. With that you get BMW's 2 year/unlimited parts warranty valid at any US BMW dealership. And as others have noted, there's currently a 'groupbuy' going on for the exhaust for 1004.00 shipped within the US until the end of the month. PM me for more details.
