I nominate myself for the worst pothole damage

Just hit a major pothole on the freeway going 60. Literally smacked my head on the ceiling and immediately got the chim for low tire pressure. Had to get it towed.
I'm getting a new rim obviously but not sure of the total extent of damage since I cannot drive it. Bummed. Hope the rack and pinion is fine. I know that's money...

Its a good one. I bent my wheel and my front control arm on one. Got TRW M3 replacements.

That stinks. However, I hit a pothole in NYC. I Bent a rim, bubble in one tire, one damaged strut, two xenon light assembly units, and a wheel alignment. Total was close to $4,000. Hopefully your isn't as bad.

Wow, that's bad. Looks like you hit a man hole that had no cover.

I'd have to say the guy who posted a few weeks ago who hit a pothole and ruined the engine takes the cake though.

Not as bad as the guy who hit a pot hole and is PS pully it the subframe, resulting in needing a new engine. Still pretty bad though.

Some states have worse roads than others. I remember traveling to my mother in NY and I hit several potholes right in the middle of the highway where thousands of cars travel everyday. Nothing that ended up bending the rim, but I was seriously concerned about suspension tho lol. Makes me wonder how other people avoid them, maybe they already know every inch of roads they travel - liek a subconcious map in memory lol? I guess Cali is another big state where road conditions vary greatly from very smooth to one of the worst. I wonder how folks on 19's daily drive lol - its gotta be painful experience lol

We have some pretty nasty ones where I live, but what always gets me are the idiots who swerve over the yellow line almost hitting another car to avoid a pothole. You would think hitting a car head on would be worse than a pothole...

I hit a hole in my e46 on the highway that mushroomed the strut tower. It was in a construction site and had been circled by spray paint. I went back and took some pics and the construction co insurance company ended up covering the damage.

Not sure if e90's have the same issue but might want to check your tower.

I'm not worried about control arms. They aren't too expensive but rack and pinion, maybe even a strut or shock? Yikes!! I'll keep this thread updated

Well, aside from my GGWBI, I did have the Iceberg incident (don't ask). Reason I bring it up: hitting the ice at speed took out my drivers side front tire, wheel, one xenon light, control arm, AND messed up my steering rack.

The total bill (at the dealership, covered by Geico btw) was about $8500.

I pray that you have MUCH less damage than you fear.

Sucks man. I hope it's just nothing but a bad rim. Heck even a control arm won't be bad but steering rack is expensive. I turned the car on today and turned my wheel both sides and it felt fine. I been shining a flashlight under the car and if looks okay but I'm just wondering now it's gonna drive

I know pictures don't do justice. I'm not expert on suspension. But if these pics can help let me know. The boots don't look torn. I can turn the wheel easily when the car is stationary. I obviously can't drive it because I have no rim yet.
