Car into Limp Mode and no other codes showing
I have had just the dreaded half engine light come on lately. A check of the codes with my Cobb AP showed the “P3100” (Limp Mode) code on its own ONLY. This seems strange to me as I understood it usually shows with another associated fault code to indicate where the problem might be. Have any of you experienced this situation of just the limp mode only coming up?
I am running Cobb Stage 2+FMIC Aggressive with aFe DCI, AR catless DPs, ER CP/Forge DVs (green springs) and ER FMIC on 98 RON fuel. The car runs strong and a check with the AP in live data mode shows she is boosting up fine. It pulls like a beast as you would expect when stomping on the accelerator. But the code tends to pop in normal traffic driving/cruising gently, usually after a slight lift-off - for example to slow down for traffic ahead or when approaching an intersection. The half-engine light comes on just about every time I drive it now. I have searched the forum and some have pointed to a boost leak or faulty Vanos solenoids. I have installed a new pair of solenoids and that did not help. I replaced/checked all the vacuum hoses at the top end (including those around the oil filter housing) and have checked all clamps and connections to the CP and IC. Any ideas where else I need to look at? |

I would try running around in stock mode for a bit to see if the limp mode returns. Maybe it's something in the software?

It's always in the normal range - 210-230 deg F (100-110 deg C) - it's still winter here(!). Why would you ask that? Is this a clue to something? |
