They do not have to be welded. I asked Adam at Riss Racing and he said that these pipes are slip jointed to your stock system so there is not welding necessary.

Not quite sure, but I dont' see why not. You might want to send a PM to any members of Riss Racing to ask them.

Does the stock exhaust have to be cut in order to install these pipes, or is it a true bolt-on?

This is an e-mail from Daniel at Riss Racing regarding installation as I have never installed it.

"Basically these are installed by cutting the stock pipes about an inch or so after the secondary cats. You must remove the exhaust and have a slip joint made with rivets. Then reinstall on the car and clap the RR mid pipe into place. You may also weld a small section of piping onto your stock pipe that you cut off so you can interchange the two.

Adam at Riss Racing also said per e-mail

"They will slip inside the stock piping so you do not have any leaks. When lining them up, make sure the muffler/exhaust shop leaves enough room on the stock system so you can slip joint these inside. That is crutial so there is no cut/welding necessary. "

Hopefully this answers your question.

Sorry, I have no way of confirming if these will pass smog. All I can say is these pipes can be easily installed and taken off as they slip-ons, so down the road when you car needs a smog check you can put back your stock 2ndary cats.
