DIY for LED turn signals with resistors

i finally found time to install the LED turn signal kit that i bought from Jlevi. here are some pics of the lights with my lux (shameless plug for MDS82). i also attached pics as to where i mounted the resistors. i didnt feel comfortable drilling my car; so i attached some small metal planks to mount the resistors. i was going to do the corner delete mod, but i opted not to. i might change my mind later and go ahead with the corner delete.

this DIY is basically based off Chesmu's corner delete mod.

LED turn signals and sidemarkers video

this is a great mod for people who do not want the amber turn signals. these are also brighter than the solaris bulbs.

remove the door panel to expose the turn signal bulb.

the door panel is now exposed and you can see the turn signal bulb. you will need to turn the bulb a little and pull it out.

now you need to switch out the oem amber bulb with the new LED.

now you need to open the hood of the car and looke for the headlight adapter. i unclipped the headlight adapter.

i unclipped the top cover of the headlight adapter to expose the wires.

here are the exposed wires. you will need to use wire #2 ground wire(thick brown wire on the top left) and #12 turn signal(thin blue wire with a stripe on the bottom right). this goes for both driver's side and passenger's side head light. you will need to use the quick connects to tap into the above wires and the resistor.

you will need to remove teh black electrical tape to expose the wires further down. this is where you will use the quick connects. after you have connected the wires with the quick connects you can cover the wires back up by wrapping them up with electrical tape.

you will need to mount the resistor on metal. they get really hot and would melt the plastic; if you mounted it on plastic. i use some small metal planks that i screwed onto the body of the car. you can either screw in the resistors on the body of the car or the metal plank. i chose to zip tie the wires of the resistor to the plank and the body of the car.

this is the driver's side headlight.

this is where i mounted the resistor on the driver's side.

i didnt need to remove my intake because i had enough room to work with. you might need to remove it; if you are unable to work around it. the install is now finished. you now have LED turn signals that will not give you an error message.

Wow great job Ed!!

The colour matches perfectly with the LUX too!

Okay, now we need to get together to do the following to my car :

1) Black grille install
2) LED Signals
3) Corner delete?

Awesome work tho man, seriously. I couldn't even attempt to do it lol.

Looks great, man.
Lux look great.
No shame in props to MDS82...he deserves every kudo he gets.
BTW: I opted for the amber turn signals to match my blackline tails

can the amber blackline bulbs be swapped for white/clear bulbs?

just thought of that

1)no problem
2)no problem
3)no problem....as long as you help me line up the wheel and the hub so we can put the lugs on. its a pain for me to do it by myself.

ntp...

when you do the cdm, go throught the wheel well, with the liner off....this obviates the need to run wires thru the engine bay. while your at it, look at Mpowerman's set up...his angel eyes come on with ignition....

somebody who could do all these mods woud rock.....

lux + cdm + LED blinkers + Angel eyes on ignition.....wow

Ed - Sounds good bro, we'll have to do this then. I think I'll wait to see the rear LEDs because I want to do all these mods listed above along with that at once since I'm going back to school. That way, I can just make one trip and get it all done

Thanks for your help bro and keep up the great work!!

all LED's (front, back, sidemarker, lux) will flash on start-up. this is the car doing a diagnostic on bulbs to check for burnt-out bulbs. The LED's flash because the minimal amount of current sent during the diagnostic is enuff to make the LED's light up.

A lot of people with newly installed LED's think something's wrong with the wiring when they see the LED's flash. It's normal.... and kind of fun to watch.

the combo of those rear's being white rather than orange and looking dimmer than stock would seem a bit dangerous to me

on a sunny day those have got to be almost completely washed out by ambient light

maybe I should take a pic of the bulbs I put on my bike, and how they look bright in the garage, but in the sun they're really dim
