question for valentine 1 owner

im buying a used valentine 1 radar from a stranger. How do i check if its working properly in a short amount of time? i dont think he will let me try it out by driving around with it. does it need to be plugged in for it to get power or does it have a battery?

First of all I suggest you do some research on the V1. Obviously you know nothing about it as you're not sure how it gets its power (it needs to be plugged like all quality radar detectors).

Second I doubt there's an easy way to check whether it works properly. I'd suggest you send it to Valentine in Ohio and have them look at it. They will also update it with the latest software for a fair price which i think is about $80.00.

You can go to the Valentine One site and plug in the serial number. There you will find what it needs to be updated along with the cost. You will be also able to tell if it has been reported as a theft.
