Prices Reasonable?
Found a shop in NJ that has a good reputation: Rennsport.
Car is a 2009 e90 328i, 6MT, at 60K. They quoted me the following for fluid changes and whatnot. Oilchange and 60 pt inspection: $125 max Coolant flush $135 plus mat. Brake and clutch fluid flush $75 plus mat. Power Steering fluid flush $104 plus mat. Scan car for codes $75 Differential fluid flush $26 plus mat. going to have the trans done as well but he didn't have a price for that yet. This all seems a bit steep so far. Any ideas? Living in Brooklyn, no place to work on the car, and I don't have the tools nor the time, so DIY is not an option right now. |

A little steep yeah. Coolant flush takes 30 minutes, so for them to charge you 125 meas they are basically making 100 in labor for a 30 minute job.
Brake fluid change same deal, takes less than 30 minutes. Scanning car for codes is free anywhere you go. They are just hooking up a scanner to the car and reading codes. Anytime you take a car somewhere, they do this for free because if the car has any codes and needs anything done, they want to make money on that, not the scan. I would say you could do better. |
