Clear coat is applied after.

Be careful and don't use too much paint. Apply delicately.

Tip: use toothpicks or something like that if it's very small.

You might want to check this out before you try to repair the chip. No offense, but from your post I get the impression that you have not had much experience with paint touch ups. Thats OK, but there is a knack to doing a decent job. Check out http://www.langka.com/ before you do anything

Me too

heading to the dealer tomorrow- 2 chips on the hood, and then the damn rock went on and got the windshield.
Naturally, it missed the clear bra.
As mentioned- use very little paint. I usually get a wooden match and take a razor and make a tiny point- though any tiny point will work.
Use the paint sparingly and let it dry in between coats if you need to "build" a little to fill the depth (if that makes any sense).
Clear goes on after, if paint is metallic.

This was a post from another thread. I haven't actually tried the method below, but the link will take you to the thread the gives detailed instructions. Before after pictures are terrific. As someone else mentioned above, the link OP recommends toothpicks for application as well.

Goodluck

I actually found this thread while looking to resolve my waterspot problem before Picus and others helped out.

Anyway, here's the thread on fixing scratches and chips using dealer paint and PC. Looks relatively easy.

Mods, hope you don't mind a link to another forum. We're all family here
