Make sure all extracted folders are on the root of C, that you're running 32-bit Windows, and that if you're on Vista/7 you right-clicked the batch file and chose Run as administrator.

It's in the spreadsheet, but it doesn't work if you have iDrive and nobody seems to have found a way to enable this menu on iDrive cars either in the BC menu or iDrive.

Vendor name is 'Automotive-Tools'

Cables may look similar, but their quality and reliability is not...

Is this still the best cable to get?

Just wait for the right thing. They take a few weeks to ship anyway, so what's a bit longer to wait if you know it means you'll be sure to get the right thing rather than ordering something else and then worrying that it may not work for you even if it worked for someone else and then possibly having to deal with a return and then getting the right thing anyway?

Typically if a cable supports DCAN it will also support K-Line and Double K-Line, but I guess that's not technically required, so it could actually mean that legacy protocols aren't supported. I wouldn't risk it personally. That also doesn't give enough info to tell whether Pin 8 has been removed, and if so whether there's an adapter to code pre-DCAN cars like yours. If Pin 8 hasn't been removed, you wouldn't need an adapter for older cars but you wouldn't be able to code anything past 3/09. The recommended cable has Pin 8 removed to allow coding of 3/09+ cars and includes an adapter for coding pre-3/07 cars.

Make sure you get the USB Driver.rar file from here: http://www.osefactory.com/tools/k+dcan/. Extract those and then use Device Manager to select the cable, click Update Driver, and tell Windows to look where you extracted the files. Do NOT use any installer apps. Otherwise, you used those files and that method and it crashed your system, just try again.

I've used the files from the FDTI site, osefactory, and both have crashed when I tried installing it via "Device Manager". The only driver that did not crash is the one that is defaulted for USB2.0 in the EDIABAS\hardware\OBD. Strange right?

That driver is designed for a BMW OEM cable, which this isn't, so I'd be amazed if it actually worked. Not sure what to tell you at this point then....

Thanks for trying. Maybe someone can chime in?

Also, does the driver file need to be in a certain folder or as long as I link to it, it'll be fine?

New to the coding so figured I'd ask question here.

I seem to have everything working but have one concern. When I'm processing a module say KOMBI for example it takes a fair bit of time to read out the TRC file. I thought program was froze actually for a bit but then it finished and all was well. This made me apprehensive to actually try and code something. Anyone else experience this "freezing" while TRC files are generated?

Thanks

It's normal. The app locks out all interaction while an operation is in progress. You'll find that FRM or NFRM take the longest of all.
