Anybody here have any experience with the traffic court system here in Nevada? I got a ticket on 95 for going 74 in a 65. I've never got a ticket before so i'm not sure what I should do. They gave me the option of paying the $328 fine and they knock it down to a parking ticket so i get no points. However, i'm tempted to fight it because the NHP officer never indicated how he measured my speed. He was coming up from behind me so I guess he just paced me but in my thought I could easily say I wasn't speeding and he would have no proof and that might stand a chance in court. If I win I get off, if I lose I still have to pay $328 What do you guys think?

Just go to an attorney (Craig P. Kenny for example) and have them knock it down to a parking ticket for like.. 50 bucks. Avoid all that thought.

Since I got the ticket from Highway Patrol I have to go to Las Vegas Municipal Court. Municipal Court won't knock the fees down so I would be paying an attorney for nothing, as I was already told if I pay the fine Municipal would knock it down to a parking ticket. I called Craig P Kenny and they told me in my situation it would be a waste to hire them. Basically this boils down to should I try to fight the tickets since the cop didn't indicate how he measured my speed. Either way my fine would be 328 and at worst I'll get one point if lose.

In your case I would just pay the fine have it knocked to a parking ticket and move on. If you were to fight take into consideration all the lost work time by having to go to the court multiple times if the cop says he needs to go and get his proof or anything else that might come along.

I am suprised they popped you for 74. Are you running out of state tags? I usually run right below 80 and they never even blink at me.

I was asked if they are prototypes, am I taking them to cali for a movie, why do the cars have on a rain coat, and isn't it illegal to be driving track cars on the streets? The list goes on. Sounds good Manny. The show and shine was 2 weeks ago with the BMWCCA unless you are talking about cars and coffee which is every saturday morning in Henderson. Its doesn't surprise me at all. Tickets are a great way to generate money, usually I only do 5 over but that day I didn't have cruise control on.

Update: I went to court and decided to fight the ticket, the judge offered to knock the fine down to $90 and change it to a parking ticket if I plead guilty. I politely told him I was fine with that but when i called I was told municipal doesn't lower ticket cost to which he replied "I'm the judge, I decide the penalty" we both laughed and I was on my merry way! Instead of paying $328 I only had to pay $90
