I have a 2006 330i, Alpine white...yadda, yadda. Short story is that I bought this originally on lease and my GF bought it as CPO. Car had to be towed tonight to BMW servicing due to the electric water pump taking a crap. Anyone else have any issues with this?

Good news is that this part is covered by the CPO warranty. $52 shop handling fee and we'll be on our way.

My question to all of you is maintenance related. Since the car is in service, I inquired about having the oil changed. What I received was a quote for $215 but also should have the following items taken cared of:

1. Fuel Injector Cleaning = $485
2. Air Cond Filter = $175
3. Scope (to reset service indicators, etc.) = $220

Total for everything = $1,145

What's your opinion on these items? Lastly, can't I change the oil myself and save $$? Sorry for the crazy questions, I just would like to get all of your opnions and suggestions.

I personally work on my own cars currently owning a 2001 Bullitt Mustang (currently for sale - $15K OBO) and a 2006 Audi B7 Avant. I'm a member on Audizine (Billy is the only person that I know on e90post.com).

Appreciate your insight and please forgive my ingnorance. I'll admit, I got lazy with the BMW when I owned it firsthand as the maintenance program was so epic (oil changes, windshield wipers, anything & everything).

Definitely do the oil yourself. It's even easier to change the oil in my E90 than it was to change in the B5 since the filter is on top. Just need the right tools which for your car shouldn't be different from mine. You can borrow the tools from me if you want or we can hook up one day to do it. As far as the other stuff, that scope charge is BS but what are you gonna do about it unless you have an OBD tool for BMW (I don't have one because the price is a rip off and you can only work on 1 car with it unless you pay an obscene amount for the pro license). The FI cleaning I've never done and can't see it being worth it. I just put a bottle of techron in my tank every 5000 miles or so.

I've been lurking since last summer with a few posts here and there. I used to be on AZ too, but sold the B5 when I got the 335i. I haven't done any servicing on the BMW myself since it's within the warranty period still, but I've looked into the procedure for the oil change and it looks much easier compared to the B5. There is even a flap in the undertray for the oil drain plug access so you don't have to remove the whole undertray. And yes, the filter is on top. I'm looking forward to quick and easy oil changes when I have to start doing them on my own.

Anyhow, glad to see some more familiar screen names, hehe.

You know he used to work at a friend's shop doing minor auto repairs back in the day. I think sitting at an office desk made him lazy. He can't even wash his own car now!

i think i read somewhere that seafoam is recommended instead of the $495 fuel injector cleaning, and does almost the same thing.

A can of seafoam is $10-$15 at a gas station and should have a good effect on cleaning. Ive heard of people just adding it to gas, and/or into the oil.

I am not an expert so do research on this first, unless someone more experienced can chime in.

I know there is a DIY guide on this forum somewhere also.

oh and the A/C filters are pretty cheap at getbmwparts and I also remember a DIY for that on these forums too.
