I've seen 2006 E90s work, the problem is, unlike the 2007+ E9Xs, there is program problem with the 2007+ discs, so if you never updated your car's software, its NOT guna work. You need to have updated your car software at some point. Try taking it to a dealer and tell them you bought a 2009 disc from NavTech and your car won't read it, tell them its a software issue and to update it for you, should be under warranty, but its in the gray area.
After all frustration, I asked BMW service center to update the (Progman) Idrive software (by giving lame reasons). I may get my car back tomorrow.

BMW provided me a loaner car and all the burned DVDs (verbatim, tdk, sony etc) worked flawless.
Guys, don't spend too much time on burning with different dvds diff speeds. Try to get our car update with new SW version and give a shot.

you are spreading inaccurate information man. The 2006 E90 and only the 2006 E90 have software issues that needs software upgrade to correct. If you have 2007+ E9X and the disk doesn't work, 100% guarantee its the disk's fault and not the car's program version.
Some people will have to pay for software upgrades because they don't have "lame reasons" from your advice and its a waste of their money when they can fix the problem simply by reburn.

I read online and few bugs were fixed in recent SW versions. I picked two bugs and stated similar problem in my Idrive (1) Navigation Error "Disk read error" , 2) Noise from Radio when its mute)

They agreed to upgrade it. I have to pick my car today and see whether it reads the burned ones.

YEs exactly, you have a 2006 E90, therefore YOU and ONLY YOUR car type may need the software update, but you are telling every1 to update their cars when its def the disk problem for every1 else. That might not only cause some1 to spend money for no reason but also possibily put some in 29.2 dump.
You need to specify, like HEY GUYS WITH 06 E90, you need to...etc.

If I install this modded 2009.1 version of the navi and I do not like the performance. Can I still insert my OEM 2007 disc and revert back to this version?

Thanks for any assistance.

When I first started using my backup disk I had to leave my car off for that 5 minutes, which really wasn't 5 minutes. I ended up leaving it an hour or so.

I am uploading to my server my backup copy of an ISO broken into 5 rar files. I use this in my 04/05 build 330i. If anyone needs a backup copy let me know and I'll send the links.

To burn it you would need something like winrar to put the ISO file back together (to create the large file from the many small files) then using disk burning software you will burn an image to the disk. You will not burn the ISO file, you will select burn image or backup, then select the ISO. As in the previous posts they are a very different process.

I have a 2008 335 and i burned the 2009.1 navi dvd it worked fine before but now that its cold outside it works sometimes and then it says disk read error and i have to take it out and put it back it and it will work for 10-15 min or sometimes it will work for a long time but then it will do the same thing does anyone know why this happens or how to fix it?

I'm having the same issues here with a 2007 335. I made a copy of the navi dvd I purchased from someone here in the forum and was trying this to see if it would make a difference. The navi dvd I purchased was a -R and I made a copy using a +R. It works and was watching to see if I have any issues but only used it a couple of days.

Navtech doesn't make a new disc automatically every calender year, they work on their own fucking sweet time. Last time I talked to a rep, he said mid year 2010, maybe...which is worth as much as a bucket of donkey shit.

So I think I'm in the group of the 06 e90 owners that need a software update to make the new nav dvd's work. I'm out of warranty so am I just sol, it's sick to think that they never updated the software with the original owner and now I'm stuck with the bill, is there a service bulletin or will that even help. Also without the new sw what is the latest version of nav that will work for me. thanks
