Excessive rear brake pad wear
BMW replaced the rear pads on my 2009 335i at 20K miles, and now they're replacing them again at 44K miles. The front pads are fine, and warranty is covering the cost, so I'm not concerned about the cost. I've never heard of rear brakes wearing that quickly. I use the cruise control a lot, and the rear brakes are utilized to maintain proper speed, but this seems like excessive wear. Is this normal?

It's the DTC system applying brakes to control lose of traction. Drive with it off and you will see extended rear brake life.

If you press your DTC button once and release DTC is activated and allows for a little more wheelslip; if you press and hold the DTC button DSC is deactivated which allows for more wheelship=reduced rear traction and extended rear pad life.
