LUX H8 Ver.3 Prototype Installed - no more outside-of-housing power supply

This is kinda like teaser.

Yesterday I installed the latest LUX H8 prototype (release candidate) on my E92.
I feel very honored to be able to test the latest version. Perhaps I'm the only one now?

The new LUX is called "LUX H8 Version.3".
Expected to be released officially in early-mid February, 2011.

Marc, aka mds82, did a great job (again) on this already-top-rated device. Now it has more refined form.

- No more overheat issue.
- No more annoying power supply/fuse box hung outside.
(You can store everything inside of the headlight housing!)
- Brightness and color are the same as the current version.

You may find they look like the 1st "recalled" version but my Ver.3 has the power supply numbered "4810".
(Please note that mine is still a prototype. The components and the design are subject to change.)

Honestly speaking, the installation is a little bit tough as many said.
You may need crafty hands to slide the heatsink under the complicated wires in the small space.
Me? It takes only 5 min on each side!
I used cheap latex examination gloves for better grip and protection against scratch - a bit of my advice.

Everybody says the LUX H8 has so far been the brightest solution of Angel Eye LEDs.
Yeah! I have to admit it. The LUX H8 definitely rocks. It's just awesome!!
I can't say anything other than that. Take a look at my pics!

Looks like a much cleaner solution than the current model. Marc - is there a "news" thread yet regarding the development/release of these?

PS - why test them in japan? send a set to philly

(Sorry for my crappy cellphone pics. I will take more, better pics this weekend...)
Looks good! A lot cleaner.

Any more pics of your car?

BTW, it looks like Marc never stops improving on his products. Great job Marc!

Actually I have tried a lot of LEDs until today and now I believe nothing can beat LUX. Marc is simply great.

I will post more pics this weekend.

I'm still wondering how these differ from the LUX H8s I bought when they first came out. I can still stuff all of the fuse boxes and PSUs inside the housing...or am I not supposed to? I don't drive my car that much but when I did go on a 4+ hr road trip, one of my lights did shut down. It started back up 10 mins later though.

Ah, Back to the Future

Glad I waited to pick up a set of these...

I see your set is already different than the other prototype set - you have inline fuse holders

I am confused with the product # on the Lux H8, my version was 9840 and the other set is 9440 and both are purchased earlier this year. Now that you have the 4810, does it mean that the later version has smaller number?

Hmm,

What do you mean by no more hanging outside the compartment?

I got my LUX H8 in October of 2009 and I've tucked the box into the compartment. I don't see a difference with these.

Am i missing something?

Yup, the original intent was to have all the stuff tucked into the compartment. But it was soon found that the electronics would overheat. So everyone was told to move the electronics back outside the compartment. The online instructions even show that.

Now they've changed something to supposedly enable all the electronics to once again be tucked in the compartment.
