Aggressive offset: Common rub points in front wheel wells?
I recently went with an agressive offset setup on the front of my E90. I am rubbing on dips or big bumps on the freeway, etc. It is not causing any damage I can see but is annoying. I have not had a chance to take wheels off yet and take a closer look to see if I can find where it is rubbing but plan to do so this weekend.
What are the common rub points in the front wheel wells I should look for? Any solutions to resolve it without using a smaller spacer? Current setup in the front is... 19 8.5 ET35 + 12MM spacer = ET23 235/35/R19 Thanks

There is a bolt in the front wheel well that holds the front bumper to the fenders, its the easiest thing to rub on.
with your offset and H&R sports I would put my money on that bolt, you can shave the bolt - replace it with something else, or live with it. You can also try and dial an extra -° of camber up front and that might clear it as well. It will slowly start to damage the tires though if it keeps happening for long enough. |

Thanks guys. I looked in the wheel well and don't see any bolts. There is a spot in the front of the wheel well near where the bumper and fender meet and the plastic liner bulges here a little. It looks like that is one of the rubbing points. Where should I be looking for this bolt?

Any suggestions for the rubbing in the rear (fenders already rolled)?

On an e92 the screw that holds the front bumper to the fender is behind the wheel liner. I would bet the same is true for an e90. Either way I can't see how he's rubbing on that, it's pretty small and behind the liner.

Im on a 19x9.5 et 22 front, the 235 tire would rub in that spot - it went through the plastic and into the bolt. the rear is most likely rubbing on the same bolt (expect rear) I shaved down the mounting between the rear bumper and fender. just shave until you think its good, then shave a little more. follow the seam from the rear bumper, to the inside of the rear wheel well. Where the bumper and fender mount there is another bolt. |

Thanks. Did you also trim some of the plastic liner to create more clearance?

I got the rears resolved last night. Pulled back the liner and generously trimmed the bracket with a cutoff wheel. I will tackle the fronts this weekend.

in the rear I trimmed the fabric inside the wheel well and took a grinder to the bracket, then hit it with some black Rustoleum to seal it. Glad I could help |

Sorry, 1 more question. Did you trim the fabric all the way around the wheel well or just in the back where the bracket is. Just noticed I am rubbing the fabric liner along the lip of the wheel well.

I really don't want to ditch these tires if I can avoid it. |
