If the current trade offer is anywhere near acceptable I would go for it as the monthly drop in Glasses on an M3 must be pretty big and likely to get bigger in the early part of next year.
The deal on the Diesel is no longer available as that car sold, it was on the forecourt at around £22k. That's not the deal I would be looking for now, I need a cheap around £10k car, pref diesel and then spend the rest on a nice Caterham R300. I'm happy to spend up to £28k on both cars put together, so really need to try and do a private deal as not many BMW dealers will have a £10k they would be willing to part ex with mine.

Price drop to £35,400. Would take a 335i or 335d as a part exchange.

This car has stirred up a lot of interest.

Everyone is interested in one way or another.

No doubt the right buyer will be along soon.

It's priced right, just a slow market...

Pricing right in a slow market means pricing low enough to attract a buyer. Problem also with a car like this is that the monthly depreciation is huge and the pricing needs to reflect this. Also means in some cases the seller is better to cut his losses and not suffer further depreciation while holding out for a higher price.

Well, I've just been offered the asking price about 5 minutes ago, unfortunately I'm not going to take that amount of money in cash especially on a sunday...

Assume he is coming back tomorrow ok? Would be much better done by a bank transfer or at least over the counter in a bank.

Er, no he's not, think about it, anyone wanting to buy a car on a Sunday without viewing it, coming down with over £35k cash, come on... I offered. Him the chance to do the deal tomorrow but "it had to be done today"...

Had dodgy notes or dodgy cash written all over it...

Either that or 4 of them turn up and say bye bye to your keys or your knees.

Sad world we live in really!

Yep, that also went through my mind, as tempted as some people would to snap their hand off for a cash purchase, it just stunk of dodgy!

If he won't come back another day then yes there was something wrong and sadly not a genuine offer.

I had a similar experience a few years back when i sold my 330Ci, and got the guy to meet me at the local Tesco's, where I turned up with a few burly mates...interestingly, he decided the car wasnt for him and off he (and the packed car with him) went on his merry way...lol!

Been offered £33k against a £13k 325i M-Sport part ex deal by my local stealer, the £13k car seems to be priced ok (ish) mulling this over, will be a nice quick and easy transfer.

That sounds like you're giving you M3 away, but if needs must.

Have you tried Birds, for a straight buy?

Your right, it's not a great offer, I'd see what my other options are, end of the BMW, BMW want to pull your pants down, they are in there to make a profit, can't blame them but looking at the price 3 M3's my dealer had for sale mine will be put up for £40k - whether they get that is another thing.

That's life, that's cars and we buy these know they are goign to depreciate, would just prefer doing a better deal with someone privately.

Birds still have a yellow one for sale.

A car BMW retail at 40k they will want to have bought at 34k or less.
And the big issue is that a lot of people would strangely rather spend 40k in their dealer and get that security along with trade in, warranty etc etc than give you 35k privately. That along with the fact that M3 are really not in favour at the moment and yours is a marmite colour all stack against you.

My advice still is that you need to take the hit if you want out, be realistic and recognise the rapid future depreciation and jump soon at your best opportunity.

Fully agree with you re buying from main dealer vs private. Disagree about the rapid future depreciation, they will continue to drop at their normal rate of about £500 per month.
