I'm half willing to sacrifice Bluetooth if the car has factory Sat Nav. I believe i can fit a Fison kit which is almost the same as OEM.

Don't dilly-dally, find one and strike quickly . I remember hunting my E46 a couple of years ago, the guy uploaded it onto Pistonhead, and I'd bought it within 20 minutes, was on a train to Stevenage with an hour and driving home within 5 hours - he was a little taken-aback by my speed - but I'd been without a car for 8 weeks.

I'm going to be living on Pistonheads/Autotrader/Ebay again now

I was waiting for someone to get out of my office in work so i could call back and by the time i rang back it was sold for the asking price.

Perfect car too, 25,000 miles, fully loaded

I found the one I wanted and went for it immediately. No regrets - its the only way to be if the criteria is met!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure factory nav always has Bluetooth included

I'm not 100% on this but there's something telling me that if the 'media pack' option was ticked then bluetooth was included however if you just opted for sat nav on the options list Bluetooth wasn't necessarily included - there must be very few cars out there without Bluetooth (more likely some owner don't even realise they've got it). I could be wrong though. Looking at a new car build Bluetooth appears to be packaged with all Sat Nav variant but the OP's car search is focused on 2/3 year old cars - was it different??

Interesting if true?

The car's i'm looking at at mainly 2007 07/57 plates so almost 5 years old.

I have enquired about a couple lately who have Sat Nav but have not listed Bluetooth - when asked they've confirmed they do have Bluetooth so you may be right?

I had an 07 335d with Pro Nav but NO Bluetooth. It had a parrot kit instead...

Well this is the same age of car I've got and when I was looking, any car with nav also had Bluetooth .like roger said ,there maybe owners who don't realise they have it so don't list it in their ad

"Media Pack" is only available on the newer CIC iDrive (Sept. 08 onwards) IIRC. And OP, i know it's frustrating but do NOT rush into anything. Make sure you get the car you want and don't make compromises due to impatience otherwise you may regret it! There are plenty of 335i's out there, just make sure you get a good 'un with good options!

Thanks for the advice. It is frustrating as i feel like i'm forever looking at the same cars that are for sale and the perfect car never appears!

I understand my budget of (now) £15k to £16k isn't the best to work with for what i'm after but surely the right car is sat there waiting to go one sale!

have you been looking on bca site, a quick search revealed this, too short notice for you because it goes through tuesday, but it might be a good place to look.

I've not looked at them to be honest but i've just registered now to keep an eye on them. The reports for the cars make them look in pretty bad condition with regard to the paintwork & alloys. Is that a general condition with auction cars or is it just a case of they're being honest whereas dealers/private sellers are not?!

I've never been to an auction myself, do car's tend to go for CAP value or is there not much difference to private/trade?

You can often expect a few marks and damage on an auction car simply because they aren't prepared for sale.Factor in a few pounds to sort out and you can still have a very cheap car.

I've just enquired about an 07 with Pro Sat Nav which didn't list Bluetooth on the advert and the dealer has confirmed it doesn't have Bluetooth

Most reputable sellers at bca do prepare the cars, its a service provided by bca to get the cars looking as good as possible, bca supervisors will check that they have been prepared to a good standard by the valeters there, if its sold with no major faults you will get 1 hours warranty on the drive train only, probably fair to say that any mint examples will have been sold by the dealers so no need to auction ,have seen a few cars fetch over cap clean values but a dealer will retail for top money which a private seller wont be able to get near,

Just been seriously let down by someone.

I had called about a car on Monday 1hr 30mins after it appeared on Autotrader, told him i was available to travel down any day this week to view & buy with cash burning a hole in my pocket. He told me at he earliest he could take Friday off work and i'd travel down there (Hampshire) by train (4 hours).

Train ticket purchased, tonight i call him and no answer. 5 mins later i get a txt saying someone has bought it today and gave me some story about thinking i wasn't interested and he'd got me confused with someone who didn't have the money! I'd txt him on Wednesday telling him i was definitely coming and i'd set everything up to pay him by CHAPS on Friday.

It's the (mild) Scouse accent putting people off i think as it's still on Autotrader.
