Anyone know the length an OD of the wand off hand? I'll probably make one up at work with some stainless tubing and a swagelok fitting. Hell I might as well make the mini one as well with the 90deg bend for the 5th and 6th cylinders.

Just had this done by LTMW in El Monte. I had 79k on my 08 and the car runs much much smoother now. Smoother idle, cold start, and much smoother on hard pulls. Slightly improved throttle response, can't tell if there is any power I regained but still worth the cost.

At 95K and the dealer did mine. (picked car up today)
Although I was in for other warranty work. I had an O2 SES related fault. Told them the car was running bad also. Looked at the intake and saw deposits, they also thought the valve seals might be leaking. End result was a full valve job, bearing ledges and some cooling hoses also replaced. Parts total was $2100. No idea about labor.

$2100 for parts and about 10-13 hours in labor to do everything. Labot around here is $160-200 per hour.

I am having the service done next Sunday and I'm at 108k miles... I haven't been having any misfires and I've never had my valves cleaned before. I wonder why some people are having such problems with less then half my miles...

Update, just got my valves cleaned last Sunday. I'm still baffled at how much of a difference it makes. Better fuel economy, better throttle response, and better acceleration. Hands down the best thing ive done for my engine thus far.

Hi,
I have a 2008/10 LCI E91 330i (N53, DI engine), it has about 40k miles (mainly in France where petrol has a lower sulfur rate than in USA). Do I need to start worrying about carbon buil-up? The car runs quit smooth, but I am not sure the 272hp are really there and fuel economy is good but not as good as some other 330i N53 I have seen (28 mpg on average in my case)...is there an easy way to check the intake valve state ?? I know that this engine hasn't been exported to US (I bet because of the higher petrol sulfur rate...) but any of you has experience in intake valve cleaning on a 330i N53 ? Is the build up related to the heat ? Any chance that the 330i has less chance of building up carbon than the 335i because the motor generates less heat ? Thanks ! Here's a good DIY video for you guys.....I'm debating whether to attempt this myself or just have a shop do it:

yes, but you need to take the radiator fan off. it's pretty easy (electrical connector, one screw, and a couple clips half way down the sides), just requires some shimmying, especially if you have the extra oil cooler.
