Must Replace The Whole Thing.
If you are trying to save $$$...When it fails, it usually fails in an open position. Unless you live somewhere cold you don't have to replace it at all. It will just warm up slower because it is open (the coolant always will circulate to the radiator). The car may never reach full operating temp but it won't hurt anything. If it failed closed, then it would overheat (because water would never circulate to the radiator). |

I have no laud fan or anything....only when I turn AC on but its normal right? AC and heater work fine. Thanks
