Just a general update. I've had some things come up this side and hence wasn't able to get any further updates on Friday or Monday - but I'll definitely have something for you guys tomorrow morning...

Update
Ok, so I was around the molders this morning and this is what we have so far. The patterns for the Quad cut-out and the single cut-out with fins are ready. We need to clean up the fins slightly, just to make sure they're all 100% the same and that they are clean and sit flush with the top of the diffuser etc.
They're going to start on the molds for these two now and as soon as the molds are done for both of them we can make the quad cut-out with fins version. If I were to estimate, all of these will be complete within a month or so and we will be ready to start shipping. Below are some pics. These are the patterns that we'll be using to make the molds. They are a bit rough still, so if you see a few imperfections, don't worry - they will be cleaned up We are also going to change the top / side cut-line on all of them to make it follow the bumper lines more closely, so even though these look to have the shape of the first ones that I've produced, they will come out with straighter cut lines on the top / side. Quad cut-out: Single cut-out with fins: Let me know what you think... Last edited by irq5; 09-14-2011 at 03:34 AM.. |

Getting there and the progress looks promissing. Adjusting the top/side cut/radius line will help improve the looks further. Can't wait to see the finished product.

i guess both sides if they are more straight down without that big curve, it will look awesome
kinda like the E46 mtech:

It's coming along nice based on the recent pics. I agree that the more vertical sides will improve it. I also didn't think the fins would look as good as the non-fin version but based on those photos I prefer it!
Twin cutouts with fins for the 335i LCI is what I have high hopes for as a lower cost alternative to the m-sport rear bumper... even if we need to wait a while lol. |
